How to Guarantee the Waterproof Performance of GRC Components

In the field of architectural decoration, GRC components, with their advantages of light weight, high strength, and rich shaping possibilities, are widely used in key parts such as exterior wall cladding panels and decorative moldings of high-end projects including grand theaters, commercial complexes, and landmark buildings. However, waterproofing performance, as one of the core indicators for measuring the quality of GRC components, directly affects the durability and safety of buildings. The waterproofing performance of GRC components depends first on scientific material formulation design. In its GRC material R&D, Qinglong uses high-purity Portland cement as the base material, combined with alkali-resistant glass fiber (content ≥5%) and specially formulated additives, optimizing the mix ratio through repeated laboratory testing so that the components themselves form a dense microstructure. At the same time, by introducing UHPC material technology concepts, a thin layer of ultra-high performance concrete is composited at key waterproofing areas to further improve the impermeability coefficient. Testing shows that the 24-hour impermeability pressure of Qinglong GRC components can reach above 1.2MPa, far exceeding industry standard requirements. Refined production processes are a key link in ensuring the waterproofing performance of GRC components. Qinglong's production base in Nanning, Guangxi is equipped with automated production lines using vacuum high-pressure spraying molding technology, which makes the bonds between material particles tighter and reduces internal porosity. After molding, components undergo 72 hours of curing at constant temperature and humidity, and then enter a steam curing kiln for deep solidification to ensure the hydration reaction is fully completed. For GRC components with complex shapes, such as double-curved exterior wall panels and openwork relief decorative pieces, Qinglong uses 3D scanning and parametric design technology to control mold precision within ±0.5mm, avoiding water leakage risks caused by molding defects.

Professional installation joint treatment is the last line of defense for the waterproofing of GRC components. Qinglong holds a Grade II professional contracting qualification for building curtain wall engineering, and its original “three-stage waterproofing installation system” is widely used in large projects: the base layer is leveled with polymer waterproof mortar, EPDM waterproof sealing strips are set between components and walls, joints are filled with high-elasticity silicone weather-resistant sealant, and drainage channels are reserved. In the Dongguan Women and Children's Activity Center project, this system successfully withstood the heavy rainfall climate of the Lingnan region, showing no leakage over 5 years of use and winning the Silver Award of the AALBORG WHITE Cup GRC Building Engineering Innovation Award.

Full life-cycle after-sales maintenance services provide long-term assurance for the waterproofing performance of GRC components. As a national high-tech enterprise, Qinglong has established a comprehensive project archive system, embedding RFID chips in each batch of GRC components to enable quality traceability. Customized maintenance plans are provided according to the climatic characteristics of different regions: in northern regions, focus is placed on checking sealant aging under freeze-thaw conditions, while in coastal regions, protection against salt spray corrosion is strengthened.
