GRC curtain walls in coastal areas require strengthened protection in four core areas: salt fog corrosion resistance, strong wind load resistance, high-humidity waterproofing, and freeze-thaw resistance. Drawing on 28 years of coastal project experience, Qinglong has extended the service life of GRC curtain walls in coastal projects such as Hainan and Sanya to over 20 years through material optimization, joint reinforcement, and process upgrades, with no hidden risks of rust, cracking, or leakage.
1. Salt Fog Corrosion Protection: Resisting Chloride Ion Attack
Salt fog is the main corrosive agent for coastal GRC curtain walls, requiring comprehensive corrosion protection from materials to joints. Material optimization: low-alkali cement and alkali-resistant glass fiber (content ≥2.5%) are selected, with mineral admixtures (15% silica fume) added to improve density; Qinglong's coastal-specific GRC achieves a chloride ion penetration coefficient of ≤1.0×10⁻¹²m²/s. Metal component protection: hangers, bolts, and embedded parts are made of 316 stainless steel, with an additional fluorocarbon coating applied (thickness ≥80μm); Qinglong metal components have a corrosion protection life of ≥25 years. Joint sealing: anti-corrosion gaskets (butyl rubber) are installed at contact surfaces between metal joints and GRC, and gaps are filled with anti-corrosion sealant to prevent salt fog from penetrating into the joints.
2. Strong Wind Load Protection: Coping with Frequent Strong Wind Impacts
Strong wind environments along the coast require enhanced wind load resistance and stability for GRC curtain walls. Structural optimization: GRC panel thickness is increased (from standard 25-30mm to 30-35mm) with stiffening ribs added (spacing ≤1.5m); Qinglong GRC for strong wind zones achieves flexural strength ≥20MPa. Hanger and keel reinforcement: hanger spacing is reduced to within 1.2m, with ≥4 hangers per panel; hot-dip galvanized H-section steel keels are upsized by 10%; Qinglong hangers achieve pull-out resistance ≥6kN and shear resistance ≥4kN. Joint reinforcement: flexible sealant (elongation ≥500%) is used with 10-12mm expansion joints reserved to accommodate minor deformations under strong winds; Qinglong joints achieve wind load deformation ≤L/500 (L is the panel edge length).
3. High-Humidity Waterproofing and Freeze-Thaw Protection: Adapting to Humid Environments and Temperature Variations
High humidity and freeze-thaw cycles can easily cause GRC aging, requiring dual protection. High-humidity waterproofing: GRC panel surfaces are coated with silane impregnation agent (penetration depth ≥3mm), water-resistant sealant is used at joints, and drainage channels are added at nodes (slope ≥3%); Qinglong GRC in high-humidity environments achieves water absorption ≤3%. Freeze-thaw reinforcement: aggregate gradation is optimized (0.15-0.6mm continuous gradation) and the water-cement ratio is reduced (≤0.40); Qinglong GRC withstands ≥300 freeze-thaw cycles with strength loss ≤3%. Later-stage maintenance: inspections every 6 months, cleaning surface salt frost, and recoating aged sealant; Qinglong provides free inspection services for coastal projects to promptly address potential hazards.
