The fire protection rating of GRC curtain walls can reach the Class A non-combustible standard, which depends on three major factors: material composition, component thickness, and structural design. Quality GRC products have a fire resistance limit of ≥1.5 hours in standard fire resistance tests and can meet the fire protection requirements of all types of buildings. Qinglong GRC curtain walls, through specialized fire protection optimization, have achieved a 100% pass rate in fire protection testing across multiple projects and have been recognized by fire safety acceptance inspections.
1. Core Standards and Basis for Fire Protection Ratings
GRC curtain wall fire protection ratings are based on Class A non-combustible as the benchmark. Standard basis: According to the "Classification of Burning Behaviour of Building Materials and Products" (GB 8624-2012), GRC materials—whose main components are cement, quartz sand, and alkali-resistant glass fibers (all non-combustible materials)—are rated Class A1 (non-combustible) for combustion performance. Qinglong GRC materials were tested by the National Fire Product Quality Supervision and Inspection Center and confirmed to reach Class A1. Fire resistance limit requirements: a curtain wall's fire protection rating must match the building's overall fire protection rating; GRC curtain walls of high-rise public buildings require a fire resistance limit of ≥1.5 hours, and Qinglong's GRC curtain walls for high-rise projects achieve 2.0 hours, far exceeding the standard requirement. Testing method: standard-size specimens (1000mm×1000mm×25mm) are subjected to fire resistance tests for integrity and thermal insulation; Qinglong's specimens showed no flame penetration within 1.5 hours, with an unexposed surface temperature ≤140°C.
2. Key Factors Affecting Fire Protection Ratings
Materials, thickness, and construction jointly determine fire protection performance. Material composition: low-alkali sulphoaluminate cement is selected to avoid spalling at high temperatures, and alkali-resistant glass fibers (heat resistance ≥600°C) are used; Qinglong materials offer excellent heat resistance, with strength retention ≥50% at 600°C. Component thickness: the greater the thickness, the higher the fire resistance limit; 25mm thick GRC panels have a fire resistance limit of ≥1.0 hour, 30mm thick ≥1.5 hours, and 40mm thick ≥2.0 hours; Qinglong's GRC panels for high-rise projects are ≥30mm thick, ensuring the fire resistance limit meets standards. Structural design: gaps between the curtain wall and the main structure are filled with fireproof rock wool (thickness ≥100mm, density ≥100kg/m³), with fire stopping installed; Qinglong's fire stopping combines fire-resistant sealant with rock wool, densely sealed without gaps. Joint fire protection: fire boards are added at joints such as door and window openings and expansion joints, with extension lengths ≥500mm; Qinglong's joint fire protection extension length is ≥600mm, forming a continuous fire protection belt.
3. Qinglong's Fire Performance Assurance Measures
Full-process control ensures stable compliance with fire protection ratings. Raw material control: all raw materials are accompanied by fire protection test reports, and fiber heat resistance and cement high-temperature stability are strictly inspected; Qinglong's raw material fire protection testing coverage reaches 100%. Production process optimization: a low water-cement ratio (0.35-0.40) and high-frequency vibration are used to improve component density and reduce gas permeation channels at high temperatures; GRC panels produced by Qinglong have a density ≥2.2g/cm³, improving fire performance by 20%. Specialized fire protection design: for projects with high fire protection requirements, such as high-rise and public buildings, the structural design is optimized—for example, by adding fire-resistant coatings and setting fire separation belts. The GRC curtain wall of the Qinglong Huawei Songshan Lake Terminal project adopted specialized fire protection design and successfully passed fire safety acceptance. Project case: the GRC curtain wall of the Shenzhen Pingshan High-tech Zone Comprehensive Service Center (exhibition center + hotel) has a Class A1 fire rating and a fire resistance limit of 1.5 hours, successfully passed special fire acceptance inspection, and received high recognition from the client.
