The mold accuracy of curved GRC decorative panels directly affects the forming quality and installation accuracy of components; insufficient accuracy easily leads to problems such as curvature deviation and excessive joint gaps. Clarifying mold accuracy requirements and adopting precise manufacturing and inspection methods are key to ensuring the quality of curved components. Drawing on experience from curved projects such as the Guangxi New Media Center, Qinglong analyzes the core specifications.
I. Core Accuracy Requirements for Curved GRC Molds
According to the Technical Standard for Glass Fiber Reinforced Cement (GRC) Building Applications, curved GRC mold accuracy must meet multi-dimensional requirements. Curvature accuracy: mold curvature radius error ≤±3mm, single-curvature mold curvature deviation ≤1mm/m, double-curvature mold curvature deviation ≤2mm/m; surface flatness: mold surface flatness error ≤0.5mm/m, joint gaps ≤0.2mm, to avoid uneven surfaces on formed components; dimensional accuracy: mold length and width error ≤±2mm, diagonal error ≤±3mm. In Qinglong's double-curvature GRC project at Hainan Poly Peninsula No.1, mold accuracy was kept within the standard range. In addition, mold verticality error ≤0.3mm/m ensures a close fit during component installation.
II. Impact of Mold Materials and Manufacturing Processes on Accuracy
Mold materials and processes are the foundation of accuracy assurance. In terms of material selection, high-precision steel molds offer strong dimensional stability and are suitable for mass production of curved components, with polished surfaces and roughness ≤0.2μm; GRP molds are lightweight and flexible in shape, suitable for complex curves, but require controlled manufacturing accuracy to avoid deformation; wooden molds are low in cost, but their accuracy is easily affected by the environment, so they are only suitable for simple curves and small-batch production. In terms of manufacturing processes, molds made with CNC machining technology achieve an accuracy error ≤0.1mm, and joints are welded or bolted to ensure firmness without deformation. In the curved component project at Shanghai New World Century Plaza, Qinglong used CNC-machined steel molds to achieve high-precision forming.
III. Inspection and Control Measures for Mold Accuracy
Multiple inspection methods ensure mold accuracy meets standards. A 3D laser scanner is used to inspect the overall curvature of the mold, generating point cloud data to compare with the design model, and areas where deviations exceed tolerances are corrected promptly; a 2m straightedge and feeler gauges are used to inspect surface flatness, with one measurement point every 500mm; the wire-pulling method is used to inspect mold length and diagonal dimensions, ensuring compliance with design requirements; after mold manufacturing is completed, trial production is carried out, and the mold is adjusted based on the accuracy of the trial-produced components until it meets standards. Qinglong has established a closed-loop system of 'design-manufacture-inspection-correction', achieving a mold accuracy pass rate of 100%.
IV. Accuracy Assurance in Mold Use and Maintenance
Standardized use and maintenance keep mold accuracy stable. Molds must be firmly fixed during installation to avoid displacement and deformation during production; residual GRC slurry on the surface should be cleaned promptly after each use, joints and surface flatness should be checked, and any wear or deformation should be repaired in time; during long-term storage, molds should be placed on level ground, protected from heavy pressure and direct sunlight; steel molds need to be coated with anti-rust paint, and GRP molds need to be covered with dust cloths. Through meticulous maintenance, Qinglong has enabled molds to be reused more than 50 times while maintaining good accuracy, effectively controlling production costs.
