Ultra-high double-curved GRC panels are mostly used for the exterior walls of high-rise buildings or large landmark buildings, facing complex stress environments such as strong wind loads and negative pressure. Their wind load resistance directly affects building safety. Based on 28 years of GRC application experience in ultra-high buildings, Qinglong Group has established a comprehensive wind load resistance assurance system through multiple measures including material reinforcement, structural optimization, and simulation verification, successfully applying it to building projects over 100 meters tall.
Material performance reinforcement is the fundamental guarantee for wind load resistance. In the Shenzhen Yirui Biotechnology Building project, Qinglong adopted a composite system of high-grade rapid-hardening cement and long-filament alkali-resistant glass fibres for the ultra-high double-curved GRC curtain wall panels, raising the flexural strength of components to above 20MPa and the impact strength to ≥15kJ/m², far exceeding industry standards. At the same time, the material mix ratio was optimized by adding quartz sand and mineral admixtures, improving the density and durability of components and enhancing wind load resistance and long-term stability.
Structural design optimization improves wind load resistance efficiency. The connection structure and panel design of ultra-high double-curved GRC panels directly affect wind resistance performance. In the Nanning Wuxiang China Resources MixC One project, Qinglong adopted a composite structure of "multi-point hanging + backing steel frame", controlling the spacing of hanging points within 500mm to evenly distribute wind loads. Meanwhile, based on wind tunnel test data, the double-curved panel design was optimized to reduce windward resistance, with stiffening ribs set at points of curvature change to enhance the overall stiffness of components and prevent vibration or deformation under strong winds.
Wind tunnel tests and simulation verification ensure that performance meets standards. Qinglong partnered with universities to establish a wind load simulation laboratory, conducting wind tunnel tests on ultra-high double-curved GRC panels in the early project stages to simulate the effects of different wind speeds and directions on components. In the Shenzhen Pingshan High-tech Zone Comprehensive Service Center project, numerical simulation was used to calculate the maximum stress values of components under Force 12 strong winds, based on which the connection joints and panel thickness designs were optimized to ensure a safety factor of ≥2.5. In addition, on-site wind load monitoring was carried out during construction, with real-time adjustments to optimize the installation plan.
As a national high-tech enterprise, Qinglong—with technical expertise gained from participating in the formulation of multiple industry standards—holds an industry-leading position in wind load resistance technology for ultra-high double-curved GRC panels. From the ultra-high curtain wall of the Shenzhen Longhua Xiangshan Science and Technology Park to the high-rise decorative components of Nanning Nanhu Mingdu, Qinglong's wind load resistance solutions have all passed rigorous testing. Going forward, Qinglong will continue to develop new composite materials and structural systems to provide more reliable safety guarantees for the application of ultra-high double-curved GRC panels.
