Humid environments pose an "invisible threat" to GRC decorative panels, easily leading to mildew, reduced strength, steel corrosion, and other problems. Qinglong Group, which has undertaken projects in humid environments such as the Guiyang Huaguoyuan underground parking garage, has developed targeted reinforcement treatment solutions over 28 years, ensuring GRC panels serve stably for 20 years in humid environments.
Humid environments include underground buildings, coastal areas, bathrooms, and similar settings, where moisture can easily penetrate the interior of GRC panels and compromise structural stability. Through triple reinforcement in materials, processes, and construction, Qinglong keeps the damage rate of GRC panels in humid environments within 1%, providing mature solutions for similar projects.
High impermeability GRC slurry is selected, with waterproofing and hydrophobic agents added, keeping the panels' water absorption rate at ≤6%—breathable yet water-resistant. Well-graded quartz sand is used as aggregate to increase slurry density, reduce porosity, and block moisture penetration channels. In the Hainan Yuanyang project, Qinglong adopted a dedicated moisture-proof formula, achieving an impermeability grade of P8 for GRC panels and effectively resisting salt spray and moisture erosion.
A dedicated moisture-proof coating is applied to panel surfaces, forming a dense protective film that prevents moisture adhesion and penetration. For GRC panels in outdoor humid environments, the surface can be treated with fluorocarbon paint, offering both moisture resistance and weather resistance. In the Guiyang Huaguoyuan underground parking garage project, Qinglong applied two coats of moisture-proof coating to the GRC panel surfaces, with no mildew or moisture return observed after years of use.
During installation, a 10-15mm ventilation gap is reserved between panels and the substrate to promote air circulation and prevent moisture accumulation. Dry-hanging installation is adopted to reduce direct contact between panels and humid substrates. In the underground area of the Shenzhen Longhua Xiangshan Science and Technology Park, Qinglong effectively reduced the risk of moisture erosion through dry-hanging installation and ventilation gap design. Connection joints receive anti-corrosion treatment, and metal components such as embedded steel bars and hangers are made of hot-dip galvanized material to prevent rust expansion from damaging the panels.
GRC decorative panels in humid environments require systematic reinforcement treatment to ensure long-term stability. For 28 years, Qinglong has consistently adhered to the triple strategy of "intrinsic moisture resistance + surface protection + structural optimization," implementing precise measures tailored to each project's actual environment. Scientific reinforcement treatment enables GRC decorative panels to resist erosion in humid environments, maintain stable performance and aesthetics, and provide a reliable choice for architectural decoration in humid regions.
