In the field of modern architectural decoration, GRC (Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete), with its lightweight high strength and design flexibility, has become the ideal choice for high-end projects such as grand theaters, commercial complexes, and landmark buildings. As a GRC manufacturer with 28 years of industry experience, Qinglong Group will analyze the commonly used raw material types of GRC and their core characteristics from a professional perspective, providing designers and owners with an authoritative reference for material selection.
GRC Raw Material System: Scientific Proportioning of Four Core Components
The performance advantages of GRC stem from its unique material composition, which mainly includes four categories: cementitious materials, reinforcing materials, aggregates, and admixtures. The raw material selection for high-quality GRC products must meet the requirements of the Technical Standard for Building Applications of Glass Fiber Reinforced Cement (GRC) (JGJ/T423-2018). As one of the participating developers of this standard, Qinglong has established a strict quality control system for raw material management.
I. Cementitious Materials: The Foundation of GRC Strength
Cement is the most core cementitious material in GRC, typically Grade 42.5 or above ordinary Portland cement or sulphoaluminate cement. Qinglong's GRC production line adopts customized cement formulations, optimizing the hydration reaction by adjusting mineral components, enabling product flexural strength to reach over 20MPa, a 30% improvement over traditional cement products. In addition, active admixtures such as silica fume and mineral powder can be added according to project requirements to further improve density and durability. This technology has been successfully applied in projects such as the Nanjing Road Century Plaza renovation project.
II. Reinforcing Materials: The "Skeletal" Role of Glass Fiber
Alkali-resistant glass fiber is the key to GRC's lightweight high strength, typically accounting for 3%-5% of the mix. Qinglong adopts an imported composite reinforcement process combining alkali-free glass fiber mesh and chopped strands, with fiber length controlled at 12-25mm to ensure uniform dispersion in the concrete matrix. This reinforcement system makes GRC components weigh only 1/4 of stone while withstanding long-term loads and environmental erosion, making them particularly suitable for exterior wall cladding panels of high-rise buildings and large-span decorative components.
III. Aggregates and Fillers: The "Regulators" for Performance Optimization
Commonly used aggregates in GRC are quartz sand or river sand, with particle size controlled at 0.15-5mm; the gradation design must balance both flowability and strength. Through refined aggregate gradation, Qinglong ensures that the concrete slurry has good filling properties during molding, guaranteeing the precise realization of complex shapes. Meanwhile, adding lightweight fillers (such as perlite) can further reduce density. In the Dongguan Women and Children's Activity Center project, such lightweight GRC components successfully reduced the structural load of the building.
IV. Admixtures: The "Catalysts" for Functional Enhancement
Admixtures are an important means of regulating GRC performance, including water reducers, retarders, and waterproofing agents. Qinglong's independently developed composite admixture system can reduce the concrete water-cement ratio to below 0.35 while improving workability, enabling products to achieve a 28-day compressive strength exceeding 80MPa. For projects in coastal areas, anti-chloride ion penetration agents are also added to enhance GRC's durability in salt spray environments, a technology that has been verified in overseas projects in Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, and other countries.
Raw Material Synergy: The Quality Code of Qinglong GRC
High-quality GRC is not a simple stacking of raw materials, but the result of the synergistic action of all components. Relying on its provincial-level engineering technology center, Qinglong has established a raw material database and proportioning optimization algorithms, enabling customized material formulations based on the project's shape complexity, load requirements, and environmental conditions. For example, for irregular double-curved components, adjusting fiber content and admixture ratios ensures that products meet strength requirements while maintaining good moldability.
As a national "Specialized, Refined, Distinctive, and Innovative" enterprise, Qinglong's innovative application of its GRC raw material system has earned wide recognition for its products in real estate, municipal engineering, cultural venues, and other fields. From raw material source control to whole-chain quality management, Qinglong has always upheld its commitment to "meticulousness and excellence," providing GRC solutions with both aesthetic value and technical assurance for the architectural decoration industry.
