In the field of modern architectural decoration, double-curved GRC panels have become the ideal choice for high-end projects such as grand theaters, commercial complexes, and landmark buildings, thanks to their unique curved forms and excellent mechanical properties. However, controlling their surface flatness has long been a recognized technical challenge in the industry. As an industry leader with 28 years of full-chain experience in UHPC/GRC/GRG/GRP materials, Qinglong Group has drawn on the practice of hundreds of complex projects to develop a systematic flatness control solution covering material formulation, mold craftsmanship, and installation technology.
I. Material System Optimization: The Source-Level Guarantee of Double-Curved GRC Panel Flatness Control
Flatness control of double-curved GRC panels must start at the material source. Qinglong Group adjusts the ratio of glass fiber content (typically controlled at 4-6%) to cement-based materials, and uses custom-grade quartz sand and special additives to give the mix better fluidity and water retention. At its production base in Nanning, Guangxi, the laboratory conducts crack resistance testing (flexural strength ≥18MPa) and shrinkage monitoring (28-day shrinkage ≤0.03%) to ensure the material is less prone to deformation during forming. Notably, in view of the particularity of double-curved shapes, Qinglong's R&D team has innovatively introduced nano-scale silica fume modification technology, enabling the material to shrink uniformly during the curing stage and fundamentally reducing surface unevenness caused by stress concentration.
II. Mold Craft Innovation: The Core of Double-Curved GRC Panel Forming Precision
Molds are the key factor determining the surface precision of double-curved GRC panels. Qinglong uses 3D scanning and CNC machining to convert design drawings into steel molds with a precision of ±0.5mm, achieving more than three times the forming precision of traditional wooden molds. At mold joints, a dual treatment of mortise-tenon structure and sealing strips prevents surface defects caused by slurry leakage. To address the demolding challenge of double-curved panels, the R&D team developed a dedicated release agent and gradient curing process that keeps component surfaces intact during demolding. Take the Nanjing East Road Century Plaza renovation project as an example: the double-curved GRC decorative panels produced with this process reach 12㎡ per piece, with surface flatness deviation controlled within 2mm/2m—far exceeding industry standards.
III. Production Process Control: Refined Practice of Full-Process Quality Monitoring
In the production stage, Qinglong has established a 'three-inspection system': raw material inspection (e.g., glass fiber length deviation ≤5%), forming process inspection (mold temperature monitored every 2 hours), and full-dimension inspection before shipment (using a laser flatness gauge). For the curing of double-curved components in particular, steam curing is combined with natural curing in a constant temperature and humidity environment (temperature 20±2℃, humidity ≥90%) to ensure uniform strength growth of the material. With an annual capacity of 600,000 square meters, the production base achieves full-process data traceability through an intelligent production management system, ensuring the quality stability of every double-curved GRC panel.
IV. Installation Technology Innovation: The Final On-Site Guarantee of Flatness
On-site installation is the last critical step in flatness control of double-curved GRC panels. Qinglong uses BIM technology for pre-assembly simulation, combined with 3D laser positioning (deviation ≤1mm) and an adjustable steel bracket system to achieve precise component alignment. For gap treatment during installation, a combination of elastic sealant and backup rod is applied to prevent joint deformation caused by temperature changes. As a participating drafting unit of the Technical Standard for Application of Glass Fiber Reinforced Cement (GRC) in Buildings (JGJ/T423-2018), Qinglong combines the standard's installation specifications with practical project experience, forming a standardized installation process of 'measure-adjust-fix-seal' that ensures double-curved GRC panels maintain surface flatness over long-term use.
From material R&D to installation, flatness control of double-curved GRC panels is a systematic engineering endeavor. With the technical strength of a national high-tech enterprise and a provincial R&D center, plus more than 20 years of engineering practice, Qinglong Group carries the philosophy of 'meticulousness and constant refinement' through every step. Whether it is the irregular double-curved curtain wall of the Dongguan Women and Children's Activity Center or complex shaped components exported overseas, Qinglong consistently leverages its full-chain service capability to provide customers with double-curved GRC solutions that combine aesthetic appeal with structural safety, driving the industry toward higher precision and better quality.
