As the concept of green building gains widespread acceptance, environmental acceptance for GRC projects has expanded from single-product environmental testing to full life-cycle environmental performance assessments covering raw materials, production processes, construction and installation, and even waste recycling. As a practitioner of green manufacturing, Qinglong Group believes that environmental acceptance for GRC projects should focus on four key dimensions—"material eco-friendliness, low-carbon production, clean construction, and waste controllability"—while complying with national and local green building evaluation standards (such as LEED and China's Three-Star Green Building rating).
Material eco-friendliness is the primary threshold. All incoming raw materials must be accompanied by test reports, with key indicators including: radionuclide limits (internal/external exposure indices), heavy metal content (soluble lead, cadmium, chromium, mercury), and VOC (volatile organic compound) emissions. GRC finished products are inorganic materials themselves and generally meet Class A non-combustible and green building material requirements, but auxiliary materials such as coatings and sealants must also comply with environmental standards.
Low-carbon, energy-efficient production is critical. This includes environmental management requirements for manufacturers themselves, such as whether energy and water consumption per unit of product, as well as wastewater and exhaust gas emissions, meet standards; the recycling rate of production waste (such as offcuts and sedimentation tank sludge); and whether clean energy is adopted. Through measures such as waste heat recovery, rainwater collection, and waste recycling, Qinglong Group's production bases have significantly reduced the environmental footprint of the production stage.
Clean, low-impact construction and installation. On-site acceptance should examine: whether construction generates excessive dust and noise pollution; whether discarded packaging materials and cutting waste are sorted for recycling; and whether the adhesives and cleaning agents used are eco-friendly products. Adopting highly prefabricated GRC dry-hanging systems can greatly reduce on-site wet work and construction waste, representing an important aspect of eco-friendly construction.
Life-cycle assessment (LCA) is a cutting-edge direction. For high-end green building projects, an LCA report for GRC products may be required to quantitatively evaluate their carbon emissions, energy consumption, and overall environmental impact from "cradle to grave" (i.e., from raw material extraction to product disposal). Thanks to its long durability and low maintenance requirements, GRC often delivers strong environmental performance over its full life cycle. In summary, environmental acceptance for GRC projects is a comprehensive system requiring collaboration among material suppliers, contractors, and owners to achieve truly green construction.
