The selection of lifting equipment for installing large-sized double-curved GRC panels directly affects construction safety and efficiency. As Qinglong Group, with 28 years of deep expertise in the GRC field, we draw on practical experience from major projects such as the Wuhan Han Show Theater and the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center to conclude that quality lifting equipment must meet three core requirements: precise positioning, safety and stability, and efficient operation. The lifting capacity of the equipment should be no less than 1.5 times the weight of the panels, positioning accuracy should be controlled within ±3mm, and the equipment should have wind-resistant and anti-sway functions to ensure a flawless installation process.
Lifting capacity is the primary consideration in equipment selection. For double-curved GRC panels with an area exceeding 10 square meters and a weight of over 2 tons, tower cranes or truck cranes with a lifting capacity of 3-5 tons should be selected. In the 120,000-square-meter wavy roof project at the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center, Qinglong Group used a 5-ton tower crane equipped with a micro-motion system, controlling installation accuracy within ±2mm. The equipment's working radius must cover the entire work surface, with a maximum lifting height of no less than 50 meters to meet the demands of super high-rise buildings. A safety factor of 1.5 or above should be adopted to ensure sufficient margin in emergency situations.
A precise positioning system is a key configuration. Lifting equipment should be equipped with laser positioning instruments and angle sensors to monitor panel posture in real time. In the Shenzhen Yirui Biotechnology Building project, Qinglong Group installed a GPS positioning system on the crane, combined with BIM model data, to achieve automatic path planning. Lifting attachments use vacuum suction cups or specialized clamps with suction of no less than 15kPa, ensuring panels do not slip or get damaged during hoisting. For irregularly shaped panels, profile-matching lifting devices are developed to distribute forces evenly.
Safety and stability are indispensable. Equipment must have wind speed monitoring capability, with automatic alarms when wind speed exceeds 10m/s. In coastal area projects, Qinglong Group installed wind-resistant anchoring devices on cranes to effectively withstand typhoon effects. At the same time, multiple protection systems, such as overload protection and limit switches, are set up to ensure operational safety. Through scientific selection and strict management, lifting equipment becomes a guarantee of success for installing large-sized double-curved GRC panels.
