Recently, Qinglong company's UHPC supply project for the Singapore Defence Research Building won the Silver Award of the "Runbang Cup · UHPC Construction Engineering Innovation Award", thanks to its innovative design concept, exquisite craftsmanship, and complex project execution. This project is not only another masterpiece of Qinglong Construction on the international stage, but also a model of China's UHPC (Ultra-High Performance Concrete) application technology advancing toward high-end and precision.

Project Highlights: A Model Work Challenging the Limits of UHPC Technology
The Singapore Defence Research Building is a key national defence project of the Singapore government, with all its exterior walls made of high-performance UHPC materials. Qinglong undertook the UHPC supply works for the defence building's openwork main entrance bricks, the UHPC roof on the left side of the main entrance, and the curved Logo feature in the indoor central hall. From detailed design and manufacturing to installation guidance, it demonstrated top-tier technical strength throughout the entire process.
The most challenging aspect of the project was the extra-large panel segmentation design: panel sizes reach 4500-6800mm, with single panels covering 20-32㎡ and a maximum weight of up to 4.2 tons. Such oversized and overweight components placed extremely high demands on production precision, transportation, and installation.

Detailed Design: A Delicate Balance of Art and Engineering
The Qinglong team embodied five core principles in the detailed design:
• Panel segmentation following the integrity principle, reducing joints and maintaining facade continuity;
• Ensuring the overall form and surface aggregate effect of the extra-thick openwork sections (up to 150mm thick);
• Achieving multiple natural effects (openwork marble-look exposed aggregate, acid-washed roof finish, and travertine effect on the curved Logo) while ensuring waterproofing and stain resistance;
• Integrally molding the curved letters together with the travertine effect, with all 193 English letters precast in the factory;
• Designing components to fit shipping container dimensions, with pre-embedded lifting points for easy on-site installation.

The Ultimate Presentation of Openwork Art
The openwork design in the project is highly visually striking, with an openwork ratio exceeding 30%. Sixteen large openwork UHPC panels are arranged on each side, and 28 small openwork panels in the central area. Through the structural logic of "divide first, then combine," single UHPC brick units are embedded to link the independent large panels into a seamlessly unified openwork wall, presenting a unique rhythm of "apart yet not scattered, together yet distinct" under light and shadow.

Integrated Innovation of the Curved Logo
The curved Logo panels feature a natural travertine surface finish, and all 193 English letters engraved on them were integrally molded with the components, avoiding the safety hazards and quality defects of later-stage jointing.

Precise Replication of the Asymmetric Roof
The UHPC imitation roof adopts a 1:1 asymmetric design. From mold making to component forming, every step faithfully reproduces the unique aesthetics and structural requirements of the original design.

Manufacturing: Conquering the Technical Summit with Precision Craftsmanship
Facing multiple technical difficulties in producing the openwork bricks, the Qinglong team ensured quality through three major measures: mold precision control, product detail treatment, and production process management.

Mold Precision Control
All molds for the imitation roof components were made as 1:1 wooden negative molds. With Rhino software modeling and carving programming, factory machines carved the keel rib plates, and infrared-positioned datum points were used for platform setup, ensuring sharp lines, well-defined edges, and precise dimensions.
The central Singapore national emblem LOGO section covers an area of 380㎡, using multi-layer base platforms and more than 200 movable props to achieve layered shadow effects.
The small openwork bricks were produced with base platform molds combined with 365 custom PEV rubber blocks and drip groove recessed joints, demonstrating extremely high process complexity.

Production Process Management
The openwork effect panels were produced with a spraying process combined with a casting process, and through strict process control, demolding, pre-assembly, repair and finishing, and packaging and shipment were seamlessly connected.
In the packaging stage, custom-made racks and numbered stacking were professionally employed, laying the foundation for long-distance sea freight and efficient on-site installation.

Team Collaboration: Polishing Every Detail to Create a Premium Project
The success of any project is like a precise ensemble. From design proposal review to sample polishing and then to final acceptance, the Qinglong team worked closely with the owner and designers, polishing every detail to perfection with professionalism and tacit understanding. It is precisely this hand-in-hand, shoulder-to-shoulder spirit of collaboration that brought the blueprint from paper into reality and created this stunning architectural work.
The award won by the Singapore Defence Research Building UHPC project is not only a recognition of Qinglong Construction's technical strength, but also a reflection of the competitiveness of Chinese construction enterprises in the international high-end engineering field. In the future, Qinglong Construction will continue to uphold the spirit of innovation and promote the wider application of UHPC technology at home and abroad!
