During the GRC procurement process, price differences between products of different specifications (dimensions, thickness, shape complexity, etc.) are a common phenomenon, and the size of these differences directly affects project budget allocation. As the core factor determining GRC production difficulty, material consumption, and process complexity, specification changes trigger chain reactions in costs, leading to significant price differentiation.
The essence of the price differences among GRC of different specifications lies in the differentiated manifestation of production and usage costs: the more special the specification and the higher the production difficulty, the more significant the price difference, while products with conventional specifications are relatively balanced in price with small differences.
1. Dimension Specifications: Directly Affecting Material Consumption and Production Difficulty
Dimension is the fundamental specification affecting GRC prices, covering length, width, single-piece area, etc., and its changes directly affect material consumption and production difficulty. Conventionally sized GRC components (such as flat panels within 1m×2m and decorative lines within 300mm) feature standardized production processes and high material utilization, with relatively stable prices and small differences among manufacturers, usually RMB 300-800 per square meter; oversized components (such as GRC panels with a single-piece area over 5㎡ or a length over 6m) consume more raw materials and require special molds, hoisting equipment, and process control during production to prevent component deformation, sharply raising costs, with prices reaching over RMB 1,500 per square meter. In the Poly Peninsula No. 1 project in Hainan, Qinglong produced 6000mm×3000mm GRC double-curved panels; due to their extra-large dimensions, the price was 60%-80% higher than similar products of conventional dimensions, but through large-scale production and process optimization, the price increase was effectively controlled.
2. Thickness Specifications: The Dual Impact of Material Consumption and Structural Costs
GRC thickness directly determines material consumption and structural design, which in turn affect prices. GRC components of conventional thickness (such as 15-30mm decorative lines and 20-50mm flat panels) use a moderate amount of material and require no complex structural design, making prices relatively affordable; thick GRC components (such as load-bearing panels and landscape components over 50mm) consume substantially more material and require the addition of steel mesh or built-in steel frames for reinforcement, making the production process more complex and pushing prices up significantly. For example, Qinglong's 100mm-thick GRC landscape benches are priced 100%-150% higher than conventional 30mm-thick decorative panels, not only because material consumption doubles, but also due to the extra costs of structural design and production process adjustments. In addition, ultra-thin GRC components (such as thin-wall panels under 10mm), although using less material, place extremely high demands on production processes and require precise control of fiber distribution and the forming process, so their prices are also higher than those of conventional-thickness products.
3. Shape Specifications: Degree of Customization Determines Process Costs
Shape specification is the core factor affecting GRC price differences, divided into standardized shapes and customized shapes. Standardized shapes, such as straight lines, flat panels, and simple geometric forms, enjoy high mold reuse rates and high production efficiency, with stable prices and small differences; customized shapes, such as double-curved surfaces, openwork carvings, natural-texture imitations, and artistic sculptures, require custom-made dedicated molds, and some processes demand fine manual work, resulting in long production cycles, high process complexity, and extremely large price differences. For example, Qinglong's conventional straight GRC lines are priced at about RMB 50-100 per meter, while the imitation Dongguan-grass-weaving GRC components for the Dongguan Women and Children's Activity Center, due to their complex shapes, can reach RMB 300-500 per meter; the "Chinese Red Lantern"-shaped GRC panels for the Wuhan Han Show Theatre are priced at 3-5 times that of conventional flat panels. The more complex and individualized the shape, the more pronounced the price differences between specifications.
4. Other Specification Parameters: Detail Differences Trigger Minor Price Adjustments
Besides dimensions, thickness, and shape, other specification parameters such as surface treatment, color, and perforation rate can also cause price differences. GRC with polished or stone-texture surface treatment is priced 10%-20% higher than ordinary surface treatment; colored GRC, due to the addition of dedicated pigments and color-matching processes, is priced 15%-30% higher than gray GRC; openwork GRC with a high perforation rate, because hole-forming precision must be controlled during production to avoid component damage, is priced 20%-40% higher than solid GRC. Qinglong calculates costs item by item according to customers' specific specification requirements and provides accurate quotations, ensuring that price differences among products of different specifications are reasonable and transparent.
The price differences among GRC of different specifications are significant, primarily stemming from differences in material consumption, production difficulty, and process complexity, among which shape specifications have the greatest impact on price, followed by dimensions and thickness. As a customized GRC manufacturer, Qinglong can, according to customers' specification requirements, reasonably control the price differences among products of different specifications through technical optimization and large-scale production while ensuring quality, providing customers with cost-effective customized solutions. In actual procurement, customers are advised to clarify core specifications based on project needs, balance decorative effects against budget, and select the most suitable GRC products.
