GRC installation is a systematic project that must follow scientific process standards. From preliminary preparation to final acceptance, every step directly affects project quality and safety. Only by mastering standardized GRC installation procedures and adjusting them flexibly to actual project conditions can both the decorative effect and structural safety of components be guaranteed.
A standardized GRC installation process is the core guarantee of quality. High-quality manufacturers seamlessly integrate detailed design, manufacturing, and on-site installation to form a full-process standardized operation system.
1. Preliminary Preparation: Laying the Foundation and Avoiding Potential Risks
Preliminary preparation is the prerequisite for successful GRC installation and mainly includes three key steps: technical disclosure, component acceptance, and base surface treatment. Technical disclosure requires organizing communication among the design, production, and construction teams to clarify the installation plan, technical requirements, and safety standards. In the Nanning Liyuan Hotel project, Qinglong used BIM technology for installation simulation to optimize the construction path in advance. Component acceptance requires checking the model, dimensions, and appearance quality of GRC components to ensure they are free of damage and deformation and meet strength standards, with unqualified components replaced promptly. Base surface treatment requires cleaning dust and debris from the installation base surface and repairing cracks and flatness defects; steel structure base surfaces also require anti-rust treatment. For example, in the GRC installation at the Singapore Defence Service Center, the flatness error of the base surface was controlled within 2mm to ensure a proper installation fit.
2. Measurement and Layout: Precise Positioning for Overall Installation Accuracy
Measurement and layout is the core step for precise GRC installation, requiring on-site positioning and marking according to design drawings. First, tools such as total stations and laser rangefinders are used to establish a global coordinate system and determine the installation baseline and elevation control points. Then, following the component installation sequence, the installation position and connection point coordinates of each component are marked on the base surface. For complex-shaped components, such as the hyperbolic GRC panels at the Guangxi New Media Center, Qinglong uses 3D laser scanning technology to generate a 3D model of the base surface, compares it with the component model, and precisely adjusts the layout data to ensure no deviation in installation position. After measurement and layout are completed, verification must be carried out to prevent positioning errors from affecting subsequent installation.
3. Component Installation: Sequential Construction for Stability and Precision
Component installation must follow the sequence of 'whole before part, primary before secondary.' First, the reference components are hoisted and fixed to serve as the reference standard for subsequent installation. Then the other components are hoisted in sequence: components are lifted to the installation position using lifting devices, and horizontal and vertical angles as well as spacing are adjusted to ensure precise alignment with the layout markings. Next comes fixing: according to design requirements, the dry-hanging, welding, or bonding method is selected. For example, the GRC faux-stone components at the Dongting Lake Museum use a dry-hanging system, fixed with stainless steel hangers and expansion bolts, with installation accuracy controlled within ±2mm. Finally, the joints between components are adjusted to ensure uniform gaps and natural transitions, such as the GRC woven-texture facade at the Dongguan Women and Children's Activity Center, where the design effect was achieved through refined jointing.
4. Finishing and Acceptance: Sealing and Protection for Long-Term Use
After installation is completed, finishing treatment and acceptance are required. First, the joints and fixing points of the components are sealed: special sealant is used to fill the gaps, and masking tape is applied to ensure a smooth sealant finish and prevent rainwater penetration. Then stains and scratches on the component surfaces are cleaned, and local damage is repaired. Finally, overall acceptance is carried out, checking indicators such as installation accuracy, fixing firmness, and sealing effect; after passing acceptance, an acceptance report is issued. Qinglong also provides after-sales maintenance guidance, such as regularly checking sealant aging and component firmness, to ensure the long-term stable use of the GRC decoration.
The standardized GRC installation process is the core of ensuring project quality. With 28 years of construction experience, Qinglong has developed a full-process control system covering 'preliminary preparation - measurement and layout - component installation - finishing and acceptance.' Combining advanced technology with a professional team, Qinglong has achieved precise installation for numerous major projects such as the Wuhan Han Show Theatre and the Shenzhen Pingshan High-tech Zone Comprehensive Service Center. Only by following standardized procedures, paired with professional services, can GRC decoration deliver both aesthetic value and structural safety.
