GRC (Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete) installation is a systematic project that requires adherence to a scientific and standardized process to ensure components are securely installed, aesthetically pleasing, and stable in performance. Many projects suffer from problems such as component detachment, excessively large joint gaps, and waterproofing failures due to non-standard installation procedures. Qinglong Group, with 28 years of full-chain GRC experience, has drawn on the Technical Standard for Building Application of Glass Fiber Reinforced Cement (GRC) and practice from thousands of projects to outline standardized steps for the entire GRC installation process, providing an authoritative reference for the industry.
I. Preliminary Preparation Stage: Building a Solid Foundation for Installation Preliminary preparation is the prerequisite for successful GRC installation, with core tasks including component acceptance inspection, site surveying, and plan optimization. When components arrive on site, Qinglong tests each batch of GRC components for appearance quality, dimensional deviation, strength performance, and other indicators to ensure compliance with design requirements; at the same time, a comprehensive survey of the installation site is conducted to check the strength and flatness of the base structure and the positions of embedded parts, with any base defects addressed promptly. In the Dongguan Women and Children's Activity Center project, preliminary site surveying optimized the installation joint design of the GRC curtain wall, avoiding installation problems caused by uneven bases and laying a solid foundation for subsequent construction.
II. Measurement and Layout Stage: The Core of Precise Positioning Measurement and layout directly determine the installation precision of GRC components and require professional tools and scientific methods. Qinglong uses BIM technology for 3D modeling, converting design drawings into field-executable positioning data; precision instruments such as total stations and laser line projectors are used to mark installation datum lines, elevation control lines, and fixing point positions on the base, ensuring that the error of each positioning point does not exceed ±2mm. In the Guangxi New Media Center project, for the complex positioning requirements of double-curved GRC exterior wall panels, real-time data obtained through 3D laser scanning technology enabled dynamic adjustment of the layout plan, achieving precise positioning of all special-shaped components.
III. Base Treatment and Component Installation Stage: Core Construction Phase Base treatment requires corresponding measures according to the base type: concrete bases must be cleaned and coated with a bonding agent, while steel structure bases require proper anti-corrosion treatment; components are then hoisted and initially fixed, with appropriate lifting equipment selected according to component weight and size, and collisions and damage avoided during hoisting. Qinglong follows the principle of "position first, then fix" during installation: after a component is in place, it is temporarily fixed first, then verticality and flatness are calibrated using tools such as spirit levels and straightedges, and permanent fixing is carried out only after everything is confirmed correct. In the Wuhan Hanxiu Theater project, 15mm-thick GRC carved panels were temporarily fixed with special clamps, and after calibration, fixed with a combination of stainless steel hangers and chemical anchors to ensure secure installation.
IV. Joint Treatment, Acceptance and Maintenance Stage: Completing the Installation Loop Joint treatment is a critical final step in GRC installation, directly affecting waterproofing performance and appearance. Qinglong uses weather-resistant sealant compatible with GRC materials; before filling, dust and debris in the joints are cleaned out to ensure the joints are dry and clean, and the sealant must be applied fully and evenly to avoid air bubbles and cracking. After installation is complete, comprehensive acceptance inspection is carried out, checking indicators such as component installation precision, fixing security, and joint sealing quality, with a detailed installation acceptance report provided upon passing. In addition, Qinglong provides after-sales maintenance guidance, including component cleaning methods and replacement of aged sealant, forming a closed loop for the entire installation process.
The standardized GRC installation process is central to ensuring project quality, and every step must strictly follow technical specifications and quality standards. For 28 years, Qinglong Group has upheld its mission of "Creating Beautiful Architecture," integrating standardized installation processes into every project with meticulous control throughout—from preliminary preparation to after-sales maintenance—and has successfully created many benchmark projects such as Wuhan Hanxiu Theater and Shenzhen Longhua Xiangshan Science and Technology Park. Choosing a GRC manufacturer with full-process standardized service capabilities can effectively avoid installation risks, ensuring that architectural works combine artistic beauty with structural safety while achieving long-term stable use.
