One of the core advantages of UHPC (Ultra-High Performance Concrete) as a new building material is its extreme strength. Its compressive, flexural, and shear strengths all far exceed those of ordinary concrete. Industry standards specify that UHPC must have a compressive strength ≥120MPa and a flexural strength ≥25MPa, while Qinglong, as a company that participated in developing the UHPC industry standards, offers products with superior strength—compressive strength of 150-180MPa and flexural strength ≥30MPa—providing a strength guarantee for high-end engineering projects.
Compressive strength: a core indicator far exceeding ordinary concrete. Ordinary C30 concrete has a compressive strength of only 30MPa, while UHPC achieves a qualitative leap in compressive strength by optimizing material ratios (low water-cement ratio of 0.2-0.35, high-grade cement + quartz sand aggregate) and adding steel fibers/alkali-resistant glass fibers (2%-3% by volume). Third-party testing shows that Qinglong's UHPC products maintain a stable compressive strength of 150-180MPa, reaching up to 200MPa at maximum—5 to 6 times that of ordinary concrete. The UHPC sculptures over 3 meters tall at the Shanghai Astronomy Museum rely precisely on this ultra-high compressive strength to maintain structural stability without additional support; the UHPC exterior wall panels at the Yangshengtang Pharmaceutical Hangzhou Industrial Park still retain ample compressive performance margin while bearing their own weight and wind loads.
Flexural and shear strength: breaking through the limitations of traditional materials. Ordinary concrete has a flexural strength of only 3-5MPa and a shear strength of about 10MPa, whereas UHPC achieves a flexural strength ≥25MPa (Qinglong products ≥30MPa) and a shear strength ≥20MPa, thanks to the "bridging effect" of fibers—steel fibers bond tightly with the cement matrix to effectively suppress crack propagation. Qinglong uses steel fibers with an aspect ratio ≥60 in production and ensures uniform fiber dispersion through a high-pressure spraying molding process. In flexural tests of its UHPC components, load-bearing capacity is maintained even after cracks appear, demonstrating excellent fracture toughness. The UHPC inclined slab components of the Shenzhen Yirui Biotech Building span 3 meters and meet flexural requirements with only 30mm thickness, far surpassing designs in ordinary concrete, which would require over 100mm.
The core reasons for the strength advantage: the dual empowerment of materials and processes. Qinglong's UHPC strength compliance is no accident but the result of precise synergy between material formulations and production processes: using grade 52.5 low-alkali cement and continuously graded quartz sand (0.15-2.36mm) to reduce internal porosity; adding polycarboxylate high-range water reducers with the water-cement ratio controlled at 0.25-0.3 to improve density; adopting automated twin-shaft mixing equipment (rotational speed ≥800r/min) and intelligent constant-temperature curing (90-95℃, 12-16 hours) to ensure full hydration. Compared with the manual mixing and natural curing processes used for ordinary concrete, Qinglong's industrialized production improves strength stability by 40%, with batch strength deviation ≤±5%.
The engineering value of strength: balancing lightweight construction and safety redundancy. The high strength of UHPC allows components to be "thin yet strong"—for example, Qinglong's 25mm-thick UHPC curtain wall panels match the strength of 100mm-thick ordinary concrete panels, greatly reducing building loads. In the Shanghai New World project, an oversized 12㎡ UHPC component weighs only 700kg yet bears loads exceeding five times its own weight, lowering transport and installation costs while providing ample safety redundancy for the project. For applications with extremely high strength requirements such as bridges and landmark buildings, UHPC's strength advantage becomes the core selection criterion.
The high strength of UHPC is the foundation of its wide application. With standards stricter than industry requirements and advanced production processes, Qinglong ensures that its product strength consistently meets targets and stays ahead. For designers and owners, high strength means more flexible design space, more secure structural assurance, and longer service life. With 58 related patents and numerous benchmark projects, Qinglong has verified the engineering value of UHPC strength, making it the preferred material for high-end projects.
