The edges and corners of UHPC components, subject to concentrated stress, are prone to bumps and damage during transportation, affecting the decorative effect and installation compatibility. Qinglong, a UHPC manufacturer with overseas transportation experience, has established a full-process protection system covering "packaging protection - transport vehicles - loading and unloading procedures". In domestic and international transportation for projects such as the Ouargla Hotel in Algeria and projects in Singapore, it has achieved zero-damage delivery of components, providing assurance for smooth project progress.
Professional packaging protection is the first line of defense against edge and corner damage, requiring customized packaging solutions based on component types. For flat panel and linear components, Qinglong adopts a packaging method of "edge/corner protection + overall wrapping + reinforcement": custom foam corner guards (thickness ≥50mm) or rubber sleeves are installed on edges and corners, covering all edges and corners of the components to avoid direct impact; component surfaces are wrapped with PE protective film (thickness ≥0.15mm) to prevent dust and rain contamination during transportation while reducing friction damage; when multiple components are stacked, rigid foam boards (thickness ≥20mm) are placed between layers and aligned vertically to avoid edge and corner stress caused by squeezing; finally, packing straps (width ≥25mm) are used for horizontal and vertical reinforcement, with rubber pads placed where straps contact components to prevent strap injury. In the Yangshengtang Pharmaceutical Hangzhou Industrial Park project, 6m-long UHPC decorative lines packed with this method showed no edge or corner damage during transportation.
Suitable transport vehicles and fixing methods ensure components remain stable without shaking during transportation. Qinglong uses flatbed trucks or container transportation, with anti-slip rubber pads or wooden sleepers laid on the truck bed to prevent component sliding; for ultra-long and ultra-wide components (length ≥6m, width ≥2m), low-bed semi-trailers are selected, equipped with hydraulic support devices to keep components level during transportation, avoiding edge and corner stress caused by tilting. Components inside the truck compartment are secured using a "zoned fixation, multi-point support" approach, fastened to the compartment frame with steel wire ropes or straps, with fixing points set at the middle or high-stress areas of components rather than directly on edges and corners; steel wire ropes are sleeved with rubber tubes at contact points to prevent abrasion. In the Shanghai New World Century Plaza project on Nanjing East Road, 12㎡ oversized UHPC stone-look panels were transported on low-bed semi-trailers with dedicated fixing brackets, with no shaking during transit and edges and corners intact. Transportation routes must be planned in advance to avoid bumpy road sections and sharp turns, with driving speed controlled within 60km/h to reduce inertial impact on components from sudden acceleration or braking.
Standardized loading and unloading procedures prevent human-caused edge and corner damage during handling, requiring professional equipment and correct methods. All Qinglong component loading and unloading uses cranes (lifting capacity ≥1.5 times the component weight), equipped with dedicated lifting devices (such as vacuum suction cups and spreader beams) to avoid direct binding of component edges and corners with steel wire ropes. When using vacuum suction cup lifters, the suction cups attach to flat areas of components, with adsorption area ≥10% of the component area to ensure secure attachment; when using spreader beam lifters, lifting points are set at pre-set lifting holes or load-bearing centers of components, with lifting ropes maintaining a distance ≥100mm from component edges and corners to avoid friction and collision. During loading and unloading, crane operation is smooth, avoiding sudden lifting, sudden lowering, and overly fast rotation; components are moved slowly when hoisted and placed, maintaining a safe distance (≥500mm) from the truck compartment, ground, or other components. In the Nanning New Media Center project, double-curved UHPC exterior wall panels handled through professional loading and unloading procedures—thousands of components without a single case of edge or corner damage—ensured installation progress.
Full-process quality tracking and emergency response mechanisms provide a final safeguard for transportation protection. Qinglong assigns dedicated escort personnel to every batch of transported components, monitoring component status in real time during transportation and promptly addressing any packaging damage or component displacement; before transportation, responsibility agreements are signed with transportation companies, clarifying damage compensation terms to increase their level of attention. If minor edge or corner damage occurs during transportation, Qinglong's on-site technicians can perform repair work (using dedicated repair materials, with post-repair surface flatness ≤±1mm); if damage is severe, immediate return to the factory for replacement is arranged to ensure project installation progress is not affected. In the Poly Peninsula No. 1 project in Hainan, a component suffered minor edge damage due to sudden bumps during transportation; Qinglong's on-site technicians repaired it promptly, with no impact on the project.
Edge and corner damage protection in UHPC component transportation is a systematic endeavor. Guided by the principle of "prevention first, whole-process control", Qinglong has standardized and formalized protective measures across packaging, transportation, loading and unloading, achieving zero-damage component delivery for domestic and international projects through extensive transportation experience and professional protection technology. For designers and owners, quality assurance during transportation is an important prerequisite for smooth project progress. With the motto of "meticulousness and the pursuit of excellence", Qinglong provides comprehensive transportation protection for every batch of UHPC components, ensuring they arrive at the construction site intact.
