The number of mesh fabric layers in GRC decorative panels must be determined comprehensively based on three dimensions: panel thickness, load conditions, and service environment. Standard single-layer panels (10-15mm) use 1-2 layers; thick panels (15-30mm) or load-bearing components use 2-3 layers; and special areas require additional reinforcement. Qinglong follows the Technical Standard for Building Application of Glass Fiber Reinforced Cement (GRC) (JGJ/T423-2018), improving mesh fabric reinforcement efficiency by 30%. Projects such as Wuhan Hanxiu Theater and Shenzhen Pingshan High-Tech Zone show no risks of delamination or cracking.
I. Panel Thickness and Load: Core Determining Basis
Panel thickness and load directly determine the base number of mesh fabric layers. Standard thickness: 10-12mm thin decorative panels (e.g., indoor moldings) bear relatively small loads and are laid with 1 layer of mesh fabric (weight ≥160g/㎡); Qinglong mesh fabric uses alkali-resistant glass fiber with tensile strength ≥750N/50mm. Medium thickness: 12-20mm general-purpose decorative panels (e.g., exterior wall flat panels) must balance strength and weight and are laid with 2 layers of mesh fabric at a layer spacing ≥5mm; Qinglong uses staggered laying between layers, increasing flexural strength by 40%. Thick panels and load-bearing components: 20-30mm thick panels or components with a span >1.5m are laid with 2-3 layers of mesh fabric, with the outermost layer ≥3mm from the surface; Qinglong's 25mm-thick GRC curtain wall panels at Shenzhen Longhua Xiangshan Science and Technology Park adopt a 3-layer mesh fabric design with bending strength ≥12MPa.
II. Service Environment: Factors for Adjusting Layer Count
Environmental severity affects the addition of mesh fabric layers. Harsh outdoor environments: in coastal salt-spray and high-wind-pressure areas, add 1 layer of mesh fabric or select high-weight mesh fabric (≥200g/㎡); in Qinglong's Poly Peninsula No. 1 project in Hainan, outdoor GRC panels use 3 layers of mesh fabric, improving weather resistance by 50%. Dry indoor environments: free from weathering and corrosion, laying per the base layer count is sufficient; Qinglong's indoor GRC decorative panels at Huawei Songshan Lake meet service requirements with 1-2 layers of mesh fabric. Humid environments: in areas with humidity >80% such as basements and bathrooms, mesh fabric requires anti-corrosion treatment plus 1 additional layer; Qinglong applies an anti-alkali coating to the mesh fabric of basement GRC panels, extending service life by 10 years.
III. Special Areas: Reinforced Layer Design
Vulnerable areas require additional mesh fabric layers. Corners and edges: at internal corners, external corners, and panel edges, mesh fabric requires edge wrapping or 1 added layer, with wrapping width ≥50mm; at the corners of Qinglong's double-curved panels for the Guangxi New Media Center, 3-layer mesh fabric edge wrapping achieves impact strength ≥5kJ/m². Around openings: for screw holes and hollowed-out areas, add 1 layer of mesh fabric within a 100mm range extending outward from the hole center; at the openings of Qinglong's GRC cladding panels for Guangzhou Dongzhu Shangdu, double-layer mesh fabric reinforcement leaves no cracking risks. Both sides of joints: add 1 layer of mesh fabric on each side of the joint, with width ≥150mm; on Qinglong's GRC curtain wall for the Dongguan Women and Children's Activity Center, 3-layer mesh fabric overlap at joints improves overall integrity by 60%.
