The jointing precision of multi-curved UHPC shapes directly affects appearance integrity and structural stability. It requires full-process control through "design pre-control, production precision control, strict installation control, and joint treatment" to keep jointing errors within ≤±2mm. Leveraging technologies such as BIM modeling, 3D laser positioning, and high-precision molds, Qinglong Group has achieved a "seamless jointing" effect in projects such as the Guangxi New Media Center and Hainan Poly Peninsula No. 1, with flatness at joints of ≤0.4mm/m.
1. Design Pre-Control: Reducing Jointing Errors at the Source
BIM parametric modeling: A whole multi-curved model is built using Rhino+Grasshopper, with precise jointing positions (mortise-tenon or tongue-and-groove structures) reserved when splitting modular components. After splitting the double-curved model of Qinglong's Guangxi New Media Center, the jointing surface error of each component is ≤±0.5mm. Optimized joint seam design: The joint seam width (8-12mm) is set according to surface curvature, and arc-shaped joints are used at curved jointing points to avoid visual breaks caused by straight seams. For Qinglong's multi-curved sculpture at the Shanghai Astronomy Museum, the arc-shaped joints connect smoothly with the curved surfaces, creating a natural appearance. Collision and interference checks: The BIM model simulates the jointing process to detect component interference issues in advance. In one Qinglong project, 3 jointing conflicts were optimized through simulation, avoiding on-site rework.
2. Production Precision Control: Ensuring Component Accuracy
High-precision molds: Multi-curved molds use steel or composite molds with machining precision of ≤±0.3mm. Qinglong's double-curved molds are made with a five-axis engraving machine, with curvature error of ≤±0.8mm, ensuring component forming precision. Component dimension inspection: Before leaving the factory, component dimensions and curvature are inspected with a 3D laser scanner; components with deviations exceeding ±1mm are reworked. Qinglong's multi-curved components have a 100% factory pass rate, with dimensional deviation of ≤±0.8mm. Jointing surface treatment: Component jointing surfaces are mechanically ground to a flatness of ≤0.2mm/m to ensure a tight fit. Qinglong's jointing surface gap after grinding is ≤0.3mm, laying the foundation for installation precision.
3. Strict Installation Control: Real-Time Calibration to Guarantee Jointing Precision
3D laser positioning: During installation, a 3D laser scanner captures component positions in real time and compares them with the BIM model; adjustments are made promptly when deviations exceed ±1mm. Qinglong's positioning precision is ≤±0.5mm, ensuring accurate jointing positions. Modular installation sequence: Components are installed in the order of "reference components first, then secondary components." Reference components are fixed at multiple points (≥4 hanging connectors) to serve as references for subsequent jointing. At Qinglong's Guangxi New Media Center, the central reference panels were installed first and then jointed toward both sides, with an overall error of ≤±1.5mm. Temporary fixing and fine adjustment: After positioning, components are fixed with temporary clamps, and positions are fine-tuned with jacks to ensure tight jointing surfaces and smooth curves. Qinglong's fine adjustment precision is ≤±0.3mm, and the curves remain continuous without abruptness after jointing.
4. Joint Treatment: Balancing Precision and Aesthetics
Sealant filling: Neutral silicone sealant (movement capability ±25%) is used. Before filling, foam backer rods (1.5 times the seam width in diameter) are embedded to ensure the sealant is full and free of air bubbles. Qinglong's sealant application uses a caulking gun for even injection, resulting in flat joints with no bumps or dents. Joint beautification treatment: According to design requirements, joints can be concealed (sealant color matching the components) or decorated (metal trim strips). Qinglong's Hainan Poly Peninsula No. 1 uses color-matched sealant for an excellent concealed joint effect and a unified appearance. Later-stage protection: A penetrating waterproofing agent is applied to joints to prevent rainwater infiltration and structural risks. After Qinglong's joint waterproofing treatment, the impermeability grade is ≥P12.
5. Qinglong Project Evidence and Precision Standards
Verified cases: Guangxi New Media Center (double-curved panel jointing with no two identical panels), jointing error ≤±1.8mm, flatness ≤0.4mm/m, setting a benchmark for multi-curved jointing; Hainan Poly Peninsula No. 1 (double-curved exterior walls of a 28-story high-rise), jointing precision ≤±2mm, no deformation after typhoon tests; Shanghai Astronomy Museum multi-curved sculpture, smooth curved surfaces at joints, error ≤±1.2mm. Precision standards: Qinglong's multi-curved UHPC shape jointing error is ≤±2mm, jointing surface flatness ≤0.4mm/m, and joint width deviation ≤±0.5mm, far exceeding the industry average.
The jointing precision of multi-curved UHPC shapes requires strict full-process control, with the core lying in precise splitting at the design stage, precision control at the production stage, real-time calibration at the installation stage, and meticulous joint treatment. With its technical strength and project experience, Qinglong Group achieves "precision + aesthetics + safety" in multi-curved jointing, providing a reliable guarantee for buildings with complex shapes. Choosing a manufacturer with multi-curved jointing capability is the key to project success.
