Outdoor UHPC panels are exposed to UV radiation for long periods and therefore require excellent anti-aging performance to avoid problems such as color fading, surface cracking, and strength degradation. Drawing on 28 years of experience in outdoor component applications, Qinglong Group has optimized formulations and surface protection to bring the UV aging resistance of its outdoor UHPC panels to an industry-leading level. Verified by authoritative testing and engineering practice, the panels achieve a 10-year color retention rate ≥90% and a strength degradation rate ≤5%, and have been successfully applied in projects in high-UV regions such as Hainan, Xinjiang, and Guangdong.
I. Core Test Data on UV Aging Resistance
Accelerated aging test: In xenon lamp aging tests (simulating strong UV exposure with a total irradiation of 1500MJ/m²), Qinglong UHPC panels showed a color difference of ΔE≤2.0 after testing, far below the industry limit (ΔE≤3.0), with no surface cracking or chalking and a gloss retention rate ≥85%. Strength degradation test: After xenon lamp aging, the compressive strength degradation rate of the UHPC panels was ≤3% and the flexural strength degradation rate ≤4%, far outperforming ordinary concrete panels (strength degradation rate ≥15%). In laboratory tests, a 30mm-thick Qinglong UHPC panel still achieved a compressive strength of 165MPa after 2000MJ/m² of irradiation, meeting service requirements. Comprehensive weathering test: In a 1000-hour comprehensive aging test combining UV exposure, temperature cycling (-40°C to 60°C), and water spray, all performance indicators of Qinglong UHPC panels degraded by ≤5% with no obvious appearance defects, meeting the requirements of the Test Methods for Aging of Building Materials.
II. Core Reasons for Excellent UV Aging Resistance
Optimized material formulation: High-purity cement and quartz sand (impurity content ≤1%) are used to prevent harmful impurities from decomposing under UV exposure and causing aging; UV absorbers are added at a dosage of 0.3%-0.5% to effectively block UV penetration. Qinglong's independently developed anti-aging formulation increases the UV absorption rate by 30%. Highly dense structure: With a porosity ≤1%, UHPC's closed pores reduce UV erosion of the internal structure, providing a better anti-aging foundation than ordinary concrete (porosity 15%-20%). Surface protection treatment: Outdoor UHPC panels are coated with a fluorocarbon coating (thickness ≥30μm) or a penetrating anti-UV agent to form a protective barrier. The fluorocarbon coating achieves a UV blocking rate ≥95%, and the fluorocarbon coating selected by Qinglong offers a UV aging resistance service life ≥15 years.
III. Proven Engineering Durability and Qinglong Project Cases
Hainan region (strong UV, high humidity): The outdoor UHPC curtain wall panels at Hainan Poly Peninsula No. 1 have been in use for 8 years with a color retention rate of 92%, no surface cracking or chalking, and a strength degradation rate of 3.2%; the GRC/UHPC composite panels at the Hainan International Convention and Exhibition Center have been in use for 12 years with stable UV aging resistance and no obvious changes in appearance. Xinjiang region (strong UV, extreme temperature differences): Municipal landscape UHPC components have been in use for 6 years with a color difference of ΔE=1.8 and a strength degradation rate of 4.5%, withstanding UV exposure under extreme climatic conditions. Guangdong region (strong UV, rainy): The UHPC curtain wall panels at Xiangshan Science and Technology Park in Longhua, Shenzhen have been in use for 5 years with a surface gloss retention rate of 88%, no fading or cracking, and their UV resistance has been recognized by both the owner and the designers.
IV. Qinglong's Anti-Aging Technical Advantages and Maintenance Recommendations
Technical innovation: Qinglong holds a patent for an “anti-UV aging UHPC formulation” and participated in developing the anti-aging performance standard for Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC) Exterior Wall Panels; the company has established outdoor exposure test sites to continuously monitor aging data of UHPC panels across different climate regions and optimize formulations and protection processes. Maintenance recommendations: Outdoor UHPC panels should undergo surface cleaning and protective layer inspection every 5 years, with prompt recoating whenever coating damage is found; avoid scratching the surface protective layer with sharp objects to prevent direct UV erosion of the substrate.
The UV aging resistance of outdoor UHPC panels is the combined result of material formulation, structural characteristics, and surface protection. With rigorous quality control, innovative technical solutions, and extensive engineering practice, Qinglong Group provides outdoor projects with UHPC panels of outstanding anti-aging performance, ensuring that components maintain stable decorative effects and structural performance over the long term.
