Transport Securing Methods for Ultra-Thin UHPC Panels (≤20mm): Safety Protection and Qinglong Practical Solutions

Ultra-thin UHPC panels (≤20mm), due to their thin thickness and low stiffness, are prone to bending deformation, edge chipping and other problems during transportation, requiring targeted transport fixing methods. Drawing on 28 years of experience in transporting ultra-thin components, Qinglong Group has developed a full-chain safety system covering "packaging protection - loading and fixing - transport vehicles - unloading procedures", successfully completing the transport of ultra-thin UHPC panels for projects such as the Shenzhen Bantian Huawei Headquarters and Nanning Wuxiang China Resources MixC Mall, with the breakage rate kept below 0.2%.

I. Packaging Protection: Preventing Damage at the Source

Surface protection: The surface of each panel is covered with PE protective film (thickness ≥0.15mm) to prevent scratches; edges are wrapped with rubber corner protectors (thickness ≥10mm), and the four corners are reinforced with metal corner guards to prevent impact chipping. The rubber corner protectors designed by Qinglong for 15mm-thick ultra-thin panels can absorb impact forces during transportation. Interlayer separation: When stacking multiple panels, lay 3-5mm thick EPE foam or foam boards between layers to ensure no friction or compression between panels; stacking height ≤1.2m (about 20 panels of 15mm thickness) to prevent the bottom panels from deforming under pressure. Overall packaging: The stacked panels are tightly wrapped with stretch wrap film (width 500mm) and secured externally with steel straps (strapping spacing ≤500mm) to form an integrated unit. Qinglong adopted this packaging in the Shenzhen project, keeping the weight of each unit within 500kg for easy handling.

II. Loading and Fixing: Ensuring Stability During Transportation

Vehicle selection: Use flatbed or box trucks with a flat cargo floor, equipped with anti-slip mats (such as rubber pads or anti-slip timber strips) to prevent panels from sliding while the vehicle is moving. Qinglong gives priority to box trucks, which can protect panels against wind, rain and external impacts. Loading method: Adopt "vertical loading" (panels perpendicular to the truck floor) with an inclination angle ≤15° to avoid bending deformation caused by flat placement; when placed vertically, panels are supported at the bottom with timber battens (spacing ≤600mm) and secured at the top with elastic ropes or hydraulic clamps, with rubber pads between the clamps and panels to avoid clamping damage. The vertical support racks designed by Qinglong for transporting 20mm-thick ultra-thin panels ensure uniform force distribution with no localized stress concentration. Fixing point layout: Each panel has no fewer than 4 fixing points, distributed across the upper, middle and lower positions of the panel to ensure all-around fixation. In the Nanning project, Qinglong applied this fixing method, and the panels showed no displacement during transportation on bumpy roads.

III. Transportation Process and Unloading Procedure Control

Transport speed: Speed ≤60km/h on urban roads and ≤80km/h on highways; avoid sudden acceleration, hard braking and sharp turns to reduce the impact of inertial forces on panels. Route planning: Prioritize smooth, unobstructed routes and avoid bumpy sections and construction zones; Qinglong uses navigation software to plan optimal routes in real time and shorten transport time. Unloading equipment: Use small cranes (such as a 25-ton truck crane) or forklifts (fitted with specialized lifting attachments); direct lifting with steel wire ropes is strictly prohibited—vacuum suction lifters (suction force ≥1.5 times panel weight) or flexible slings (width ≥100mm) must be used instead. The vacuum suction lifters used by Qinglong in the Huawei Songshan Lake project provide uniform suction with no risk of panel damage. Unloading procedure: Lift slowly (speed ≤0.5m/min) and place panels steadily at the designated site (with timber battens laid on the ground); avoid throwing or impact; inspect panel condition promptly after unloading and address any issues immediately.

IV. Qinglong's Technical Advantages and Project Verification

Customized packaging: Specialized packaging racks are designed according to ultra-thin panel dimensions (maximum panel size 3000×1500mm) to enhance targeted protection; the racks are reusable, reducing costs. Transport team: A professional transport team is deployed, with drivers specially trained and familiar with the precautions for transporting ultra-thin UHPC panels, ensuring standardized operations. Project cases: 15mm-thick ultra-thin UHPC interior panels for the Shenzhen Bantian Huawei Headquarters (transport radius 100km) with a breakage rate of 0; 20mm-thick ultra-thin panels for the Nanning Wuxiang China Resources MixC Mall (transport radius 300km) with a breakage rate of 0.1%—both passed strict acceptance.

The core of transporting and fixing ultra-thin UHPC panels lies in "thorough protection, secure fixing and smooth operation". Through refined packaging, scientific loading and standardized procedures, Qinglong Group achieves the safe transportation of ultra-thin panels, providing assurance for smooth project construction. Choosing a professional transport solution is key to avoiding damage to ultra-thin UHPC panels and controlling costs.
