The material mix ratio is the core secret behind lightweight GRC shapes achieving "light yet strong", and it is also the key foundation for their standing in the architectural decoration field. As a national high-tech enterprise with 28 years of experience in GRC detailed design and production, Qinglong knows well that the mix ratio of lightweight GRC shapes is not merely a combination of technical parameters, but a systematic project balancing performance, cost and creativity.
With the advantages of low self-weight and high strength, lightweight GRC shapes are widely used in commercial complex curtain walls, landscape components and other applications, and all of this depends on scientific and precise material mix ratios. The Technical Standard for Application of Glass Fiber Reinforced Cement (GRC) in Buildings (JGJ/T423-2018), which Qinglong participated in formulating, contains clear specifications for the mix ratio indicators of lightweight GRC, providing an authoritative reference for the industry.
The core of the base material mix ratio for lightweight GRC shapes lies in "reducing volume while enhancing efficiency". Qinglong uses high-strength white cement and selected quartz sand as core base materials, reducing aggregate usage through optimized particle gradation, ensuring matrix compactness while lowering self-weight. Compared with ordinary GRC, the cement content of lightweight GRC is controlled within a reasonable range, with ultra-fine mineral admixtures replacing part of the cement, which not only reduces material density but also improves crack resistance and durability. This mix ratio scheme was fully verified in the GRC curtain wall project of Shenzhen Longhua Xiangshan Science and Technology Park.
Alkali-resistant glass fiber is the "backbone" of lightweight GRC shapes, and its content directly determines product strength. Based on 28 years of practical experience, Qinglong has determined the glass fiber volume content of lightweight GRC to be 3%-5%, adopting a composite laying process of chopped glass fiber and continuous glass fiber mesh. This ratio not only avoids uneven mixing caused by excessive glass fiber, but also ensures the material's flexural strength can reach over 20MPa, meeting the load-bearing requirements of lightweight components. In the 15mm thick thin-wall GRC shapes of Wuhan Hanxiu Theater, this mix ratio scheme achieved the design goal of "thin yet firm", setting a new technical record for similar buildings in China at the time.
The additive ratio of lightweight GRC shapes emphasizes multi-functional synergy. Qinglong adds high-efficiency water reducers to the mix, lowering the water-binder ratio to below 0.35 to improve material fluidity and molding effects; appropriate amounts of retarders and water-retaining agents are added to ensure the construction window period and full hydration for complex shapes. For different application scenarios, the proportions of antifreeze agents and hydrophobic agents are also adjusted, enabling products to adapt to diverse environments such as high temperature and extreme cold. This flexible mix ratio system has enabled Qinglong's lightweight GRC products to be successfully applied in overseas projects in Malaysia, Saudi Arabia and other countries.
The material mix ratio of lightweight GRC shapes is one of the core technologies Qinglong has accumulated through 28 years of deep engagement in the industry. Through precise combination of base materials, glass fiber and additives, it not only achieves the installation advantage of "traveling light", but also ensures structural safety in long-term use. As an enterprise participating in the formulation of national industry standards, Qinglong always takes scientific mix ratios as the foundation, providing designers and owners with lightweight GRC solutions that combine creative freedom with performance reliability.
