Insulated GRC exterior wall panels achieve "integration of decoration and thermal insulation," and their structural composition directly determines a building's energy-saving performance and user experience. Qinglong Group, a national high-tech enterprise with 28 years of dedication to new decorative building materials, has been deeply engaged in the R&D and application of insulated GRC products. Drawing on experience from large-scale projects such as the Yangshengtang Pharmaceutical Hangzhou Industrial Park, it breaks down the core structure and technical advantages.
Insulated GRC exterior wall panels are composite panels formed by integrating functional structures such as insulation layers and moisture-proof layers on the basis of traditional GRC panels. Compared with the traditional construction mode of "GRC decorative layer + separate insulation layer," they offer advantages such as strong integrity, efficient construction, and excellent energy-saving performance. As tested, Qinglong's insulated GRC exterior wall panels have a thermal conductivity as low as 0.038W/(m·K), meeting building energy-efficiency requirements across different climate regions nationwide, and have been widely used in real estate, municipal, and industrial buildings.
The surface GRC decorative layer serves decorative and protective functions. Made of an alkali-resistant glass fiber reinforced cement matrix, it is typically 15-25mm thick, offering high strength, high durability, and good decorativeness. Through optimized mix proportions, Qinglong achieves a flexural strength of ≥15MPa for the surface GRC, while delivering various decorative effects such as stone-like, wood-like, and hollow-out finishes according to design requirements. In the Shanghai New World Nanjing East Road Century Plaza project, an artistic light-transmitting effect was achieved through the surface GRC.
The middle insulation layer is the core of energy saving. High-efficiency insulation materials such as extruded polystyrene board (XPS), rigid polyurethane foam, or rock wool are selected, with thickness determined by energy-saving requirements, typically 30-80mm. Qinglong prioritizes insulation materials with Class A flame retardancy, firmly bonded to the GRC surface layer with a special adhesive to avoid hollowing and detachment, while reducing thermal bridging effects and improving overall insulation performance.
The inner protective and connecting structure ensures stability. The inner layer features a moisture-proof, breathable layer to prevent water vapor from penetrating the insulation layer and compromising energy-saving performance; built-in reinforcing ribs and connecting anchors ensure the integrity of the composite panel and installation safety. The integrated connecting structure developed by Qinglong achieves a bond strength of ≥0.3MPa between the insulation layer and the GRC surface layer, far exceeding industry standard requirements. In the Shenzhen Yirui Biotechnology Building project, it ensured the long-term stability of 3,000 square meters of insulated GRC exterior wall panels.
Interface treatment technology enhances interlayer bonding. A special interface agent is applied between the GRC surface layer and the insulation layer, improving interlayer bond strength through the dual action of physical interlocking and chemical bonding, and preventing interlayer peeling caused by temperature changes. Meanwhile, the cutting precision of the insulation layer is optimized to ensure a close fit with the GRC surface layer, reducing thermal bridges formed by gaps.
The composite process achieves performance synergy. Factory-based prefabricated production, using compression molding and steam curing processes, ensures high dimensional accuracy and stable performance of insulated GRC panels. Qinglong's production base has an annual capacity of 600,000 square meters, enabling large-scale, standardized production of insulated GRC panels and shortening the construction period by more than 40% compared with on-site construction.
Customized design adapts to different scenarios. Based on the climate region and functional requirements of the project building, the insulation layer thickness and material type are customized: thicker insulation layers combined with high-efficiency insulation materials are selected for severe cold regions, while the moisture-proof layer design is optimized for tropical regions to improve breathability. In the Ouargla Hotel project in Algeria, insulated GRC hollow-out panels were customized for the local climate, balancing both energy-saving and decorative requirements.
The structural composition of insulated GRC exterior wall panels embodies the design concept of "functional integration," and the realization of their performance advantages depends on the scientific proportioning and process coordination of each layer's structure. With 28 years of technical accumulation and the support of a provincial-level R&D center, Qinglong Group continuously optimizes the structural design and production processes of insulated GRC panels, providing buildings with integrated solutions that combine decorativeness, energy efficiency, and safety. Choosing a supplier with strong R&D capabilities and full-chain service capability is key to ensuring insulated GRC exterior wall panels meet performance standards and achieving building energy-saving goals.
