Perforated GRC panels combine decorative and acoustic functions, and are widely used in theaters, conference rooms, and commercial spaces. Acoustic performance optimization is the core of their value. As the group that undertook the Meixihu Boston MIZU Salon project, Qinglong has spent 28 years achieving precise adaptation of the acoustic performance of perforated GRC panels through hole design and structural adjustment.
The acoustic performance of perforated GRC panels is mainly reflected in sound absorption and sound insulation. Optimization must take into account the acoustic requirements of the application scenario, adjusting hole parameters and structural design to achieve a balance between acoustic and decorative effects. Through acoustic simulation and field measurement, Qinglong ensures that perforated GRC panels meet the acoustic needs of different spaces.
For scenarios focused on sound absorption, a hole diameter of 2-4mm, hole spacing of 8-12mm, and perforation rate of 8%-15% are recommended, with an increased number of holes to expand the sound-absorbing area. In the Zhuhai Chimelong Conference Center project, Qinglong adopted this parameter design, achieving a sound absorption coefficient above 0.5 and meeting the acoustic requirements of conference spaces. For scenarios focused on sound insulation, the perforation rate should be reduced to 5%-8% and the hole diameter increased to 5-8mm to reduce sound wave penetration, combined with a back panel structure to enhance sound insulation.
Setting up an air layer and back panel forms a “perforated panel + air layer + back panel” sound-absorbing structure. The air layer is 100-200mm thick, and the back panel uses sealed boards to improve low-frequency sound absorption. Filling the air layer with sound-absorbing materials such as glass wool can further enhance the absorption effect. In the Zengcheng Cultural Conference Center project, through this structural design, Qinglong raised the comprehensive sound absorption coefficient of the perforated GRC panels to above 0.7.
Material and Process Optimization: Supporting Acoustic Performance Enhancement
High-density GRC slurry is selected to reduce the panel’s own acoustic loss, while hole edges are kept smooth to avoid interference from sound wave reflection. During production, hole positions and sizes are precisely controlled with an error of ≤0.2mm to ensure uniform acoustic performance. Qinglong uses CNC perforation equipment to precisely replicate hole parameters. In the Meixihu Salon project, the acoustic performance of 4mm-thick perforated GRC panels fully met the acoustic environment requirements of a professional hair salon.
Acoustic optimization of perforated GRC panels is a precise match between technology and demand. For 28 years, Qinglong has consistently adhered to the principle of “parameter control + structural synergy,” achieving precise adaptation of acoustic performance through hole design, structural adjustment, and process optimization. The optimized perforated GRC panels retain the decorative advantages of GRC material while offering excellent acoustic functions, making them an ideal choice for high-end acoustic spaces.
