Single-curve and double-curve GRC panels are the core choice for architectural curved decoration, and processing differences directly determine shaping precision and project efficiency. As the group that undertook the double-curved surface GRC project for the Guangxi New Media Center, Qinglong Group has spent 28 years specializing in curved GRC processing, clearly mastering the core differences between the two in molds, techniques, and precision control, ensuring the perfect realization of various curve requirements.
Single-curve GRC panels are curved in only one direction, with relatively mature processing; double-curve GRC panels have curvature in both directions, featuring complex shapes and geometrically increased processing difficulty. Through technical optimization, Qinglong has raised the processing pass rate of double-curve GRC panels to over 98%, providing high-quality curved components for landmark projects such as the Wuhan Han Show Theatre.
Single-curve GRC panel molds can be made of GRP or steel, batch-produced based on single-curve arc parameters, with low mold cost and short cycles—conventional shape molds take only 5-7 days to fabricate. Double-curve GRC panels require high-precision molds made using CNC engraving technology based on BIM 3D modeling data, and each double-curved panel may require a dedicated mold, with fabrication cycles as long as 10-15 days. In the Hainan Poly Peninsula No. 1 project, Qinglong achieved precise replication of double-curve molds through parametric design and CNC machining.
When casting single-curve GRC panels, the slurry flows along a single arc direction, and uniform filling can be achieved through conventional vibration. Due to the complex curved surfaces of double-curve GRC panels, the slurry is prone to accumulation or gaps, requiring high-flowability slurry combined with vacuum dewatering and segmented vibration processes to ensure perfect adhesion between the slurry and the mold. Qinglong independently developed a dedicated double-curve slurry with balanced flowability and cohesion, successfully solving the double-curve forming challenge in the Guangxi New Media Center project.
Single-curve GRC panels can meet strength requirements with conventional double-layer mesh reinforcement, with dimensional errors controlled within ±2mm. Due to complex stress conditions, double-curve GRC panels require additional reinforcement layers or steel frames at areas with significant curvature changes, with dimensional errors controlled within ±1mm to avoid misalignment during assembly. Through 3D laser scanning inspection, Qinglong adjusts the processing precision of double-curved panels in real time, ensuring smooth curve connections.
The processing differences between single-curve and double-curve GRC panels are essentially process adaptability adjustments brought by shape complexity. For 28 years, Qinglong has consistently addressed processing challenges through technological innovation, handling single-curve components with standardized processes and conquering double-curve challenges with customized technologies. Whether simple single-curved lines or complex double-curved curtain walls, Qinglong can provide precise processing solutions to perfectly present the aesthetic beauty of architectural curves.
