A high perforation rate is a major highlight of UHPC shaping, enabling unique light-and-shadow effects and artistic expression. However, a high perforation rate places stringent demands on the structural strength and molding process of UHPC. Qinglong Group, with 28 years of experience in UHPC/GRC/GRG/GRP artistic shaping, has mastered four key technologies for achieving a high perforation rate in UHPC shaping through technological innovation and project practice.
#Structural Optimization Design: Balancing Perforation Rate and Strength Structural optimization design is the core prerequisite for achieving a high perforation rate, requiring maximization of the perforated area while ensuring structural strength. Qinglong Group adopts parametric design and finite element analysis technologies to conduct precise stress analysis of UHPC perforated shapes, optimizing perforation patterns and reinforcement distribution. Perforation patterns preferentially adopt symmetrical and grid designs to ensure uniform stress distribution; reinforcement uses stainless steel mesh or carbon fiber bars, arranged around perforated areas and at key stress points to enhance structural stability. For shapes with a perforation rate exceeding 50%, a "skeleton + thin wall" structure is adopted, where the skeleton bears the main load and the thin walls achieve the decorative effect, ensuring both strength and a higher perforation rate. In the Ouargla Hotel project in Algeria, Qinglong achieved UHPC facade panels with a perforation rate exceeding 50% through structural optimization design, with compressive strength still reaching over 100MPa, meeting application requirements.
#High-Precision Mold Making: Ensuring Perforated Molding Quality High-precision molds are the key to accurately molding UHPC shapes with high perforation rates. Qinglong Group adopts a mold solution combining polyurethane soft molds and steel molds: the polyurethane soft molds precisely replicate complex perforation patterns, while the steel molds provide sufficient support strength to prevent mold deformation during the molding process. Mold making employs 3D scanning and CNC machining technologies, ensuring dimensional accuracy of perforation patterns with errors controlled within ±1mm; mold surfaces are polished to guarantee a smooth and refined UHPC surface; positioning devices are installed inside the molds to ensure accurate relative positioning between reinforcement and perforated areas. In the Shanghai New World Nanjing East Road Century Plaza project, Qinglong's high-precision molds successfully achieved the molding of high-perforation UHPC light-transmitting panels with wood-grain textures, featuring precise perforation patterns and excellent surface texture.
#Material Performance Optimization: Enhancing Molding and Strength Assurance Material performance optimization provides the fundamental guarantee for high-perforation-rate UHPC shapes, requiring improvements in the material's flowability, toughness, and strength. Qinglong Group optimizes the UHPC material formulation by selecting high-activity powders and ultra-fine aggregates, reducing the water-binder ratio to below 0.2 to improve material flowability, ensuring the concrete fully fills the mold gaps to form precise perforated shapes; an appropriate amount of steel fibers and alkali-resistant glass fibers is added, with the fiber volume fraction controlled at 2%-3%, to enhance the material's toughness and crack resistance and prevent cracks in perforated areas; steam curing is applied to improve the material's early strength and long-term stability, ensuring the structural safety of high-perforation shapes. Testing shows that Qinglong's optimized UHPC material achieves a flowability of over 250mm and a flexural strength exceeding 25MPa, fully meeting the requirements of high-perforation-rate shapes.
#Precision Construction Techniques: Ensuring Molding and Installation Quality Precision construction techniques are key to the successful implementation of high-perforation-rate UHPC shapes. During pouring, Qinglong Group combines low-pressure slow pouring with vibrator-assisted compaction to ensure uniform concrete distribution without air bubbles or voids; after pouring, moisture curing and steam curing are performed, with the curing temperature controlled at 40-60°C and a curing time of no less than 7 days to ensure full strength development of the material; during installation, special lifting equipment and precise positioning technology are used to prevent damage caused by uneven stress on high-perforation shapes during installation; after installation, sealing treatment is carried out to enhance waterproofing performance and protect perforated areas from corrosion. In the Shanghai Astronomy Museum public art project, Qinglong successfully installed high-perforation-rate UHPC sculptures through precision construction techniques, featuring precise shaping, stable structures, and outstanding artistic effects.
Achieving a high perforation rate in UHPC shaping requires overcoming four major technical challenges: structure, molds, materials, and construction. With 28 years of technical expertise and innovation capability, Qinglong Group has fully integrated the four key technologies and successfully completed multiple classic projects with perforation rates above 50%, demonstrating the unlimited artistic possibilities of UHPC materials. Choosing a technologically leading UHPC manufacturer ensures that high-perforation-rate shapes are both beautiful and safe, achieving a perfect combination of art and engineering.
