Perforated UHPC curtain wall panels are widely used in architectural decoration for their unique artistic styling and ventilation and daylighting advantages, but the high sound insulation requirements of residential buildings have raised concerns among many owners and designers. Drawing on 28 years of UHPC product R&D and engineering practice, Qinglong Group analyzes the sound insulation performance of perforated UHPC curtain wall panels from the perspectives of material properties, structural design, and actual test data.
I. Standard Requirements for Sound Insulation Performance of Residential Buildings According to the Code for Design of Sound Insulation of Civil Buildings, the weighted sound reduction index (RW) of residential building exterior walls must be ≥45dB, and areas with high requirements must reach above 50dB to ensure the indoor environment is free from external noise disturbance. Due to their perforated structure, sound waves easily travel through the holes of perforated UHPC curtain wall panels, so sound insulation performance must be enhanced through specialized design to meet residential building requirements.
II. Factors Affecting the Sound Insulation Performance of Perforated UHPC Curtain Wall Panels Perforation rate, panel thickness, and structural design are the core factors affecting sound insulation performance. UHPC panels with a conventional perforation rate below 30% have a basic sound reduction index of approximately 35-40dB, which hardly meets residential building requirements; when the perforation rate exceeds 50%, the sound reduction index drops further. Qinglong's tests found that increasing panel thickness (from 30mm to 50mm) can improve the sound reduction index by 3-5dB, while adopting a composite structure of "UHPC panel + sound insulation filling + back panel" can improve it by 10-15dB, fully meeting residential building standards.
III. Qinglong's Sound Insulation Optimization Solutions and Practice for Perforated UHPC Curtain Wall Panels As a provincial-level R&D center, Qinglong has developed specialized sound-insulating perforated UHPC curtain wall panels tailored to residential building needs. In terms of structural design, it adopts a gradient perforation structure and an internal sound insulation cavity design, filled with rock wool or polyurethane sound insulation materials, while optimizing the sealing of panel joints to reduce sound leakage. In the Nanjing Agile Riverside Garden project, the perforated UHPC curtain wall panels applied (35% perforation rate) achieved a weighted sound reduction index of 48dB upon testing, meeting high residential building requirements; in the Zhongshan Kaiyin New Town project, composite structural design raised the sound reduction index to 52dB, earning high recognition from owners. In addition, Qinglong can customize perforation rates and sound insulation structural solutions according to the noise environment of residential buildings.
Through scientific structural design and sound insulation optimization, perforated UHPC curtain wall panels can fully meet the sound insulation requirements of residential buildings. With 28 years of R&D and engineering experience, Qinglong Group has broken the misconception that "perforation means poor sound insulation," providing residential buildings with UHPC solutions that combine artistic styling with practical performance. Choosing a supplier with customized R&D capabilities can achieve a perfect balance between artistic effect and sound insulation performance.
