The core indicators for GRC material's freeze-thaw resistance are "freeze-thaw cycles ≥300, strength loss ≤5%, and mass loss ≤3%". Testing must follow the test methods specified in the national standard. Through material optimization and process control, Qinglong's products far exceed these indicator requirements in freeze-thaw resistance, making them suitable for projects in cold regions.
I. Core Indicators and Significance of Freeze-Thaw Resistance
Freeze-thaw resistance indicators are key to GRC's adaptation to cold environments and directly affect service life. Core indicators: According to the Standard for Test Methods of Long-term Performance and Durability of Ordinary Concrete (GB/T 50082), GRC freeze-thaw resistance must meet the following: after 300 freeze-thaw cycles (frozen at -20℃ for 4h, thawed at 20℃ for 4h), compressive strength loss ≤5%, mass loss ≤3%, with no obvious cracks or spalling; Significance of the indicators: Winter freeze-thaw cycles are frequent in cold regions; water freezing and expanding in GRC pores generates stress, causing cracking and pulverization; meeting the freeze-thaw indicators ensures GRC can be used repeatedly for more than 20 years in environments ranging from -20℃ to 20℃; Scenario requirements: Outdoor projects in northern regions, high-altitude areas, and areas with large day-night temperature differences must use GRC that meets freeze-thaw resistance standards; in a Qinglong municipal landscape project in Northeast China, GRC components showed a strength loss of only 2.3% after 300 freeze-thaw cycles.
II. Standard Testing Methods for Freeze-Thaw Resistance
Testing must strictly follow the national standard procedures to ensure accurate and reliable results. Specimen preparation: Prepare 100mm×100mm×100mm cube specimens, cured under standard conditions for 28 days, with 3 specimens per group; Qinglong's specimens are made with the same raw materials and processes as actual production to ensure representativeness; Test equipment: Use a concrete rapid freeze-thaw testing machine to precisely control the freezing and thawing temperature and duration; Test procedure: First measure the initial compressive strength and mass of the specimens, then conduct 300 freeze-thaw cycles, periodically observing appearance during the cycles; after the cycles are completed, measure the compressive strength and mass again to calculate the strength loss rate and mass loss rate; Result determination: If both loss rates meet the indicator requirements and there is no obvious appearance damage, the freeze-thaw resistance is qualified; Qinglong laboratory tests show that after 300 freeze-thaw cycles, the product shows no change in appearance and a strength loss of only 1.8%.
III. Technical Measures and Company Practices for Improving Freeze-Thaw Resistance
Qinglong ensures excellent product freeze-thaw resistance through multi-dimensional technical optimization. Material optimization: Use a low water-binder ratio (≤0.45) to improve GRC density and reduce porosity; Qinglong maintains good workability at low water-binder ratios through high-efficiency water reducer technology; Aggregate selection: Use well-graded quartz sand to reduce interconnected pores; Qinglong's quartz sand has a mud content of ≤0.3%, preventing weak points formed by impurities; Post-protection: Apply a hydrophobic agent to the surfaces of outdoor components to reduce water absorption and moisture penetration; all Qinglong components for northern projects are hydrophobically treated, reducing water absorption to below 5%; Project verification: A GRC landscape pavilion in a city park in Northeast China has used Qinglong products for 6 years, enduring multiple winter freeze-thaw cycles with no cracking or pulverization; third-party re-inspection confirms the freeze-thaw resistance still meets standards; Testing capability: The Qinglong laboratory holds specialized freeze-thaw testing qualifications and can complete full-process testing in accordance with national standards, providing test reports for projects.
