What Tools Are Needed for GRC Installation? Core Tool List and Usage Explained

GRC installation requires four categories of core tools: measuring, installation, fastening, and auxiliary. Tool selection should be based on component type and installation method. Professional tools ensure installation precision and safety, and leading manufacturers such as Qinglong provide tool selection advice and operation guidance.

1. Measuring and Positioning Tools: Ensuring Installation Precision

Measuring tools are the foundation of installation and directly affect the accuracy of component positioning. Laser rangefinder: measures component spacing and installation height with an accuracy of ±1mm, suitable for setting-out and positioning. The Qinglong installation team prefers imported laser rangefinders to ensure precise positioning for large-span projects. Level/theodolite: checks the flatness and verticality of the installation surface; levels are used for flat components, while theodolites are suitable for high-altitude and inclined components. For example, GRC curtain wall installation requires a theodolite to calibrate verticality with an error ≤2mm/m. Ink marker and chalk line reel: snap installation reference lines on the substrate to define component positions; used together with a tape measure to ensure even installation spacing. 3D scanner: for complex double-curved and irregular components, scans the substrate and component contours to generate data models for assisted positioning. Qinglong uses this tool for complex projects to improve installation precision.

2. Installation Tools: Achieving Component Placement

Installation tools are used for component handling, adjustment, and fastening operations. Electric drill/impact drill: drills holes to fix expansion bolts and chemical anchors; drill bits are selected according to substrate material—impact drills for concrete substrates and electric drills for steel structure substrates. Wrenches (torque wrench, adjustable wrench): tighten bolts and nuts. Torque wrenches control the tightening force, avoiding damage to components from over-tightening or insecure fixing from under-tightening. Qinglong requires torque wrenches for critical joints to ensure the fixing force meets standards. Screwdrivers and Allen keys: install small fasteners, matching the fastener types of the reserved installation holes in components. Lifting equipment (manual hoist, small crane): moves large components (such as Roman columns and large reliefs) to their installation positions. Manual hoists are suitable for low-rise, lightweight components, while large projects require cranes. Qinglong equips professional lifting teams and equipment for large component installation.

3. Fastening and Reinforcement Tools: Ensuring Secure Installation

Fastening tools are the core guarantee of component stability. Expansion bolts/chemical anchors: fix components to the substrate. Expansion bolts are suitable for concrete substrates, while chemical anchors are suitable for lower-strength substrates or high-altitude work. Qinglong prefers stainless steel anchors with good corrosion resistance to extend service life. Angle brackets and connectors: connect components to the substrate and transfer loads; thickness is selected according to component weight—use 8-12mm thick angle brackets for heavy components. Welding tools (welding machine, welding torch): weld connectors for steel structure substrates or embedded steel plates; must be operated by certified welders. Qinglong applies anti-corrosion treatment to welded joints to prevent rusting. Sealant gun: applies sealant to fill component joints and prevent water seepage; choose a neutral silicone sealant compatible with GRC. Qinglong provides specialized sealant to ensure adhesion and durability.

4. Auxiliary Tools: Improving Construction Efficiency and Safety

Auxiliary tools ensure smooth construction and personnel safety. Scaffolding/gondola: provides operating platforms for installation—scaffolding for low-rise work and gondolas for high-altitude work; they must meet safety standards, and Qinglong regularly inspects its high-altitude work gondolas. Spirit level and straightedge: check the flatness and verticality of components after installation for immediate adjustment to avoid installation deviations. Cleaning tools (brush, cloth, vacuum cleaner): clean substrate dust and component surface stains to ensure secure bonding and a neat appearance. Protective equipment (safety helmet, safety harness, gloves): ensures the safety of construction personnel; safety harnesses must be worn for high-altitude work, and Qinglong requires all construction team members to be equipped with compliant protective tools.
