Curved GRC shapes, with continuously changing curvature and complex spatial forms, have jointing precision that directly affects the smoothness of a building's appearance and its structural stability, requiring strict adherence to industry standards and practical specifications. Drawing on experience from double-curved GRC projects such as the Guangxi New Media Center, Qinglong analyzes the core requirements and control measures for jointing precision to ensure flawless realization of the design.
1. Precision Control Requirements for Joint Gaps
Gap uniformity is a fundamental requirement for curved panel jointing, requiring precise control of dimensional deviations. Joint gaps for individual components: conventional curved GRC joint widths must be controlled within 5-8mm with a tolerance of ≤±1mm to prevent sealant cracking caused by uneven gaps; double-curved special-shaped components: due to large curvature variations, joint gaps should be reserved at 10-12mm with a tolerance of ≤±0.5mm, allowing sufficient deformation space. In the Poly Peninsula No.1 double-curved project in Hainan, Qinglong achieved zero gap tolerance exceedances through custom shims; corner areas: joint gaps at curved corners must remain continuous and consistent, with gap deviations at corners of ≤±0.8mm, ensuring smooth curvature transitions without abrupt kinks.
2. Surface Flatness and Flushness Requirements
Surface flushness directly affects the visual effect and requires strict control of height differences. Height difference between adjacent component surfaces: ≤1mm for ordinary curved GRC and ≤0.5mm for high-precision decorative curves, inspected with a 2m straightedge and feeler gauge to ensure no noticeable steps; overall surface flatness: flatness deviation within every 10m range of ≤3mm, inspected by scanning with a laser flatness detector. In the Wuhan Han Show Theatre project, Qinglong used this equipment to keep the overall curved surface flatness deviation within 2mm; edge verticality: verticality deviation of component joint edges of ≤1mm/m to prevent misalignment caused by tilted edges from affecting the overall smoothness of the curvature.
3. Curvature Consistency and Positioning Precision Requirements
Curvature consistency is the core precision indicator for curved shapes and must ensure the unity of the overall form. Curvature deviation of individual components: compared with the design model, radius of curvature deviation of ≤3mm, ensuring each component precisely matches the design curvature; overall curvature after jointing: after continuously jointing 10 components, cumulative curvature deviation of ≤5mm to prevent local deviations from accumulating and distorting the shape. Qinglong uses BIM + 3D laser scanning technology to compare jointing results with the design model in real time; positioning precision: 3D coordinate deviation of component installation of ≤±2mm. Especially for the spatial positioning of double-curved shapes, precise measurement is required to ensure each component is accurately positioned, avoiding curvature deviation after jointing.
4. Core Implementation Measures for Jointing Precision Control
Refined whole-process management ensures jointing precision meets standards. Factory production precision control: digital mold technology is used to ensure component production dimensional errors of ≤±1mm, with each piece undergoing 3D scanning inspection before leaving the factory; non-conforming products are strictly prohibited from shipment; on-site installation calibration: a high-precision survey control network is established, with total stations and laser trackers used to monitor component installation positions in real time, calibrating immediately after each component is installed; jointing process optimization: a "position first, then fix" construction sequence is adopted, using adjustable connectors to temporarily fix components, followed by permanent fixing after precise position adjustment. In the Guangxi New Media Center project, Qinglong used this process to achieve precise jointing of a thousand double-curved GRC panels, with jointing precision far exceeding industry standards.
