The method of combining UHPC exterior walls with insulation layers directly affects insulation performance, construction efficiency, and structural safety. The appropriate method must be selected based on project requirements, climate conditions, and building type. Drawing on 28 years of engineering practice, Qinglong analyzes the mainstream combination methods and their key application points.
1. Factory-Prefabricated Composite Bonding Method
Integrated factory prefabrication achieves a tight bond between the insulation and decorative facing layers. Core process: during factory production, the insulation layer (such as XPS, EPS, or rock wool) is bonded to the UHPC facing layer with a special adhesive, then compacted under high pressure and steam-cured to form an integrated component, with interlayer bond strength ≥0.6MPa. Advantages: highly standardized production with controllable quality; the insulation layer is encapsulated by the UHPC facing layer and back panel, offering strong protection and excellent durability; on-site work only requires installing the integrated components, improving construction efficiency by more than 40%. Applicable scenarios: new buildings and large-scale standardized projects such as industrial parks and residential developments. Qinglong adopted this method in the Yangshengtang Pharmaceutical Hangzhou Industrial Park project, achieving efficient construction and energy-saving compliance.
2. On-Site Filling Bonding Method
Filling insulation materials on site suits complex shapes and old building renovations. Construction process: first install and firmly secure the UHPC decorative panels, leaving a 30-80mm gap between the UHPC panels and the base wall, then fill the gap with insulation materials. Commonly used materials include rigid polyurethane foam (sprayed on site), insulation wool, and vitrified microbead insulation mortar. Advantages: flexible construction, suitable for irregular UHPC components and uneven base walls; no factory-customized composite components required, resulting in lower costs. Precautions: ensure the insulation material fills the gap completely with no hollow spots or gaps; after filling, seal the edges to avoid thermal bridging. Qinglong commonly uses this method in old building renovation projects for its strong adaptability.
3. Externally Hung Insulation Panel Bonding Method
Installing insulation panels first and then covering them with UHPC suits projects with high insulation requirements. Construction process: first fix the insulation panels to the base wall using anchor bolts, then install the UHPC decorative panels on the outside of the insulation panels; the UHPC panels are fixed to the base structure through connectors rather than pressing directly on the insulation panels. Advantages: insulation layer thickness can be flexibly adjusted, meeting high insulation demands in severe cold regions (insulation layer thickness up to 80-100mm); the insulation panels and UHPC panels bear loads independently, ensuring structural safety. Applicable scenarios: buildings in severe cold northern regions and projects with high energy-saving requirements, such as public buildings and high-end residences. Qinglong adopted this method in a commercial complex project in Northeast China, achieving energy savings of more than 75%.
4. Combination Method Selection and Quality Control Key Points
Scientific selection of the combination method ensures insulation and structural performance. Selection principles: prioritize the factory-prefabricated composite method for new large-scale projects, the on-site filling method for old building renovations, and the externally hung insulation panel method for severe cold regions. Quality control: factory prefabrication requires testing interlayer bond strength and thermal performance; on-site filling requires checking insulation material density and fill compactness; externally hung insulation panels require ensuring that the insulation panels and UHPC panels are firmly fixed. Energy-saving optimization: regardless of the method used, additional insulation layers should be added at door and window openings, internal and external corners, and similar locations, and low thermal conductivity connectors should be used to reduce thermal bridge losses. Through refined design, Qinglong ensures that all combination methods meet energy-saving standards.
