The impact resistance of GRC panels directly affects service safety and durability. Especially in densely populated areas and outdoor settings, GRC panels are vulnerable to external impacts such as collisions and falling objects, and must meet the corresponding standard requirements. Clarifying impact resistance standards and adopting targeted reinforcement measures are key to ensuring the long-term stability of GRC panels. Drawing on project experience including the Wuhan Hanxiu Theater and Sanya Festival Plaza, Qinglong analyzes the core standards and improvement solutions.
1. Core Standards for the Impact Resistance of GRC Panels
According to the standard "Glass Fibre Reinforced Cement (GRC) Decorative Products" (JC/T940-2022), the impact resistance of GRC panels must meet clear requirements. Conventional GRC panels (15-25mm thick) require an impact strength of ≥2.5kJ/㎡ and must withstand a 0.5kg steel ball freely dropped from a height of 1m without penetrating cracks after impact; GRC panels for outdoor curtain walls must meet higher standards, with an impact strength of ≥3.0kJ/㎡ and a surface crack width of ≤0.1mm after impact; GRC panels for indoor densely populated areas (such as shopping mall corridors and school corridors) require an impact strength of ≥3.5kJ/㎡ to ensure resistance to frequent collisions. Qinglong's conventional GRC panels achieve a measured impact strength of up to 3.2kJ/㎡, while high-end custom versions reach over 4.0kJ/㎡, far exceeding the basic standards.
2. Key Factors Affecting the Impact Resistance of GRC Panels
The impact resistance is affected by material formulation, production technology, and structural design. In terms of materials, insufficient glass fiber content (<3%) causes a 20%-30% reduction in impact resistance. Qinglong uses alkali-resistant glass fiber with content controlled at 3%-4%, and adopts a "long + short" mixed fiber system to enhance the fiber bridging effect. Insufficient cement matrix strength also affects impact resistance, so high-grade cement must be selected to ensure a compressive strength of ≥40MPa. In terms of production technology, uneven mixing and insufficient vibration lead to excessive internal porosity, which reduces impact resistance; high-pressure vibration and vacuum degassing technologies must be applied to keep porosity below 3%. In terms of structural design, panels that are too thin and lack reinforcing ribs have weak impact resistance, so panel thickness and reinforcement structures must be reasonably designed.
3. Technical Solutions for Enhancing Impact Resistance
The impact resistance of GRC panels is improved through multi-dimensional optimization. Material optimization: adding polypropylene fiber (0.1%-0.2% content) enhances material toughness and absorbs impact energy. Qinglong's test data show that adding polypropylene fiber increases impact strength by 15%-20%. Structural reinforcement: longitudinal and transverse reinforcing ribs are set on the back of GRC panels, with rib height ≥20mm and spacing ≤500mm, to improve overall impact stiffness; in the Shenzhen Pingshan High-tech Zone Comprehensive Service Center project, this solution enabled GRC curtain wall panels to meet impact resistance standards. Surface treatment: applying wear-resistant coatings or bonding carbon fiber cloth enhances surface impact resistance, especially suitable for components in densely populated areas. Edge protection: chamfering panel edges and wrapping them with metal corner guards reduces the risk of collision damage.
4. Testing and Quality Assurance Measures for Impact Resistance
Strict testing ensures that impact resistance meets standards. During production, standard test blocks are made for each batch and subjected to impact tests according to the standard, with a required pass rate of 100%; finished panels are sampled for on-site impact testing, using the steel ball impact method or drop hammer impact method to verify actual impact resistance; ultrasonic testing is used to check internal compactness, avoiding insufficient impact resistance caused by internal defects. Qinglong has established a dedicated quality control process for impact resistance, with full traceability from raw material selection to finished product testing, ensuring that every GRC panel complies with impact resistance standards and providing a guarantee for service safety.
