The surface flatness of UHPC curtain wall panels directly affects their appearance and installation quality. The tolerance range must be strictly controlled to comply with industry standards and design requirements. Defining precision standards and control measures is key to ensuring the overall aesthetics of the curtain wall. Drawing on its high-precision production and installation experience, Qinglong explains the core points below.
1. Core Tolerance Ranges for Surface Flatness
According to the industry standard “Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC) Exterior Wall Panels,” the surface flatness tolerance of UHPC curtain wall panels must be controlled in grades according to component type. Standard flat panel components: surface flatness tolerance of a single panel ≤2mm/m, and overall curtain wall surface flatness tolerance ≤5mm/10m; special-shaped curved components: fitting tolerance ≤3mm, and local bump/dent tolerance ≤1.5mm/m; high-end decorative projects (such as landmark buildings): flatness tolerance standards are raised, with flat panels ≤1.5mm/m and curved surface fitting ≤2mm. In the Shanghai Century Plaza project, Qinglong kept the flatness tolerance of UHPC wood-effect translucent panels within 1.2mm/m to ensure a unified visual effect; for the standard curtain wall panels of the Shenzhen Yirui Biotechnology Building, the 2mm/m standard was applied, balancing quality and cost.
2. Analysis of Key Factors Affecting Surface Flatness
Production stage: Insufficient mold precision easily leads to uneven component surfaces; mold flatness tolerance must be ≤0.5mm/m, and Qinglong uses CNC-machined steel molds to ensure mold precision. Uneven mixing and pouring produce surface air bubbles and pitted areas that affect flatness, so high-frequency vibration and vacuum degassing technology are required. Improper curing causes shrinkage deformation of components, so constant temperature and humidity curing is needed to prevent warping caused by temperature gradients. Installation stage: Uneven keel installation transmits errors; keel flatness tolerance must be ≤1mm/m. Positioning deviation of hangers causes component tilting, so 3D laser positioning technology is required. Uneven sealant filling creates surface height differences, so standardized caulking procedures are essential.
3. Whole-Process Technical Measures for Flatness Control
Production stage: Use high-precision steel molds with polished surfaces and mold joint gaps ≤0.2mm; optimize the mix ratio and control the water-binder ratio between 0.22 and 0.25 to reduce shrinkage deformation; use automated pouring and vibrating equipment to ensure a uniform, dense slurry. Qinglong's automated production line can keep component flatness tolerance within 1mm/m. Installation stage: Use BIM technology to simulate installation and optimize the keel layout in advance; use laser leveling instruments to calibrate keel positions, checking flatness at 1m intervals; use flexible shims for fine adjustment during component installation, allowing an adjustment range of ±2mm to ensure surface flatness. Acceptance stage: Use a 2m straightedge and feeler gauge for inspection, with no fewer than 5 measuring points per panel; non-conforming products are strictly prohibited from leaving the factory or being installed.
4. Rectification and Prevention Solutions for Excessive Flatness Deviations
Minor deviations (excess ≤0.5mm): Use a dedicated grinding machine for local grinding with a grinding depth ≤2mm to avoid damaging the component surface layer. Moderate deviations (0.5mm<excess ≤1mm): Use UHPC-specific repair agent for filling and leveling, then grind and polish after repair to ensure integration with the original surface. Severe deviations (excess >1mm): Components are scrapped and re-produced. Qinglong enforces a “zero tolerance” policy to ensure the flatness of products leaving the factory meets standards. Preventive measures: Establish a regular mold calibration system with mold precision tested monthly; monitor component flatness in real time during production with sampling tests for each batch; conduct a comprehensive keel inspection before installation with timely adjustments for non-conforming parts. Through whole-process control, the flatness pass rate of Qinglong's UHPC curtain wall panels remains stable above 99.5%.
