Cubic compressive strength is a core indicator for measuring the mechanical properties of UHPC, directly determining the material's load-bearing capacity and scope of application. Its minimum standard is clearly defined by industry specifications and serves as the basic threshold for product qualification. Understanding the minimum standards and practical application requirements is a key basis for UHPC material selection and quality acceptance.
I. Industry Minimum Standard for UHPC Cubic Compressive Strength
According to the current industry standards "Ultra-High Performance Concrete (UHPC) Exterior Wall Panels" (T/CBMF171-2022) and "Technical Specification for Application of Ultra-High Performance Concrete", the minimum characteristic value of UHPC cubic compressive strength is 120MPa, which is one of the core differences between UHPC and materials such as ordinary concrete and GRC (ordinary C80 concrete has a compressive strength of only 80MPa, while high-quality GRC is approximately 20-30MPa). The standards stipulate that testing must use 100mm×100mm×100mm cubic specimens, conducted after 28 days of curing under standard curing conditions (temperature 20±2℃, humidity ≥95%), with the loading speed controlled at 0.5-1.0MPa/s to ensure accurate test data. As a participating unit in the formulation of industry standards, Qinglong requires all UHPC products to meet this minimum standard; otherwise, they are strictly prohibited from leaving the factory.
II. Differences in Strength Requirements Across Application Scenarios
In practical applications, UHPC cubic compressive strength needs to be adjusted according to the scenario and is usually higher than the minimum standard. In the field of architectural decoration, such as curtain wall panels and decorative moldings, the strength requirement is 120-150MPa; the measured strength of the UHPC curtain wall panels for Qinglong's Shenzhen Yirui Biotechnology Building reached 150MPa, meeting the requirements of thin-wall design. Bridge engineering, load-bearing components and similar applications have higher strength requirements, needing to reach 150-180MPa to ensure structural safety. Large sculptures and irregularly shaped components, due to complex loading conditions, require strength ≥160MPa; the UHPC sculptures over 3 meters tall for the Shanghai Astronomy Museum produced by Qinglong achieved a compressive strength of 170MPa, ensuring shape stability. In special environments such as coastal areas with high salt mist and high-temperature environments, strength reserves need to be increased to resist corrosion and aging, with strength requirements typically raised by 10%-15%.
III. Key Factors Affecting UHPC Compressive Strength
Raw material quality is the foundation. High-grade cement (Grade 42.5 or above), high-purity quartz sand, and premium fibers guarantee strength; the imported steel fibers selected by Qinglong can increase strength by 20%-30%. Water-binder ratio control is crucial and must be strictly kept between 0.20-0.25: too low causes construction difficulties, while too high significantly reduces strength. The application of dense packing design and active admixtures (such as silica fume) can reduce porosity and improve compactness; Qinglong optimized the particle gradation to keep material porosity ≤0.8%. The curing process affects strength development—high-temperature steam curing can accelerate hydration reactions, increasing 28-day strength by 10%-15%; Qinglong's dedicated curing kilns precisely control curing parameters to ensure strength stability.
IV. Qinglong's Strength Control and Practical Achievements
Qinglong has established a whole-process strength control system, from raw material screening to finished product testing, with every stage centered on strength indicators. Upon arrival, raw materials must be tested for indicators such as cement strength and fiber tensile strength. During production, automated metering equipment ensures precise proportioning, and high-speed forced mixers are used in the mixing stage to ensure uniform material mixing. At the finished product stage, specimens are sampled from each batch for 28-day compressive strength testing, and only qualified products can be delivered. Relying on strict control, the compressive strength of Qinglong's UHPC products is stably maintained at 150-180MPa, far exceeding the industry minimum standard, and they have been successfully applied in major projects such as Century Plaza on Nanjing East Road in Shanghai and the Yangshengtang Pharmaceutical Hangzhou Industrial Park. For high-end project needs, Qinglong can also customize higher-strength products, with a maximum compressive strength of up to 200MPa, fully meeting the application needs of various scenarios.
