The raw material composition of GRC (Glass Fiber Reinforced Concrete) directly determines product performance and quality. High-quality GRC requires core raw materials that meet standards, scientifically proportioned and processed, to achieve lightweight, high-strength, durable, and crack-resistant properties. Understanding GRC raw material composition and material selection standards helps accurately assess product quality and select products suited to project requirements.
1. Core Raw Material Composition of GRC
GRC is mainly composed of cementitious materials, aggregates, reinforcement materials, admixtures, and water. The cementitious material is mainly high-grade cement, commonly Grade 42.5 or above white cement or ordinary Portland cement, which is the fundamental source of GRC strength; aggregates are mostly clean aggregates such as quartz sand and river sand, with particle size controlled at 0.15-1.2mm to ensure uniform particles and improve component density; the reinforcement material is alkali-resistant glass fiber, which is key to GRC's lightweight and high strength and must have good alkali resistance and bonding properties; admixtures include water reducers, retarders, waterproofing agents, etc., which can optimize construction performance and product durability; water should be clean drinking water, with the water-binder ratio controlled between 0.35-0.45 to ensure full hydration and avoid excessive shrinkage. When producing GRC components, Qinglong strictly follows the above raw material composition standards to ensure basic product performance.
2. Core Material Selection Standards for Each Raw Material
Cementitious material selection: prioritize high-grade cement that meets national standards; white cement must have a whiteness of ≥80 degrees, with strength up to standard and good stability. Qinglong uses Grade 42.5 white cement from well-known brands to ensure uniform surface color and stable strength of components. Aggregate selection standards: aggregates must be screened and washed, with mud content ≤1% and impurity content ≤0.5%; aggregates containing harmful impurities such as mica and sulfides should be avoided. Qinglong's aggregates undergo multiple screening processes to ensure reasonable particle gradation and improve component density and durability. Reinforcement material standards: alkali-resistant glass fiber must meet industry standards, with a diameter of 13-24μm, a length of 12-25mm, tensile strength ≥1000MPa, and alkali resistance retention ≥75%. Qinglong uses imported alkali-resistant glass fiber to ensure no aging or brittle fracture during long-term use. Admixture selection: environmentally friendly high-efficiency admixtures are selected; water reducers have a water reduction rate ≥25%, retarders can adjust setting time to 6-12 hours, and waterproofing agents can raise the component's impermeability grade to P8 or above. Qinglong uses specialized admixtures that meet national standards to optimize product performance.
3. Impact of Raw Materials on GRC Performance
The quality of cementitious materials directly affects GRC strength and durability; inferior cement can easily lead to insufficient component strength and surface sanding. High-quality aggregates can improve component density, reduce internal pores, and enhance impermeability and frost resistance. The quality of alkali-resistant glass fiber determines the tensile and flexural strength of GRC; inferior fibers are prone to aging and fracture, causing component cracking and damage. Improper admixture selection may cause problems such as abnormal setting time and shrinkage cracking. In the Wuhan Han Show Theater project, Qinglong achieved a flexural strength of over 20MPa for GRC components through strict material selection and scientific proportioning, meeting the requirements for complex shapes and long-term use.
4. Qinglong's Raw Material Control and Quality Assurance
Qinglong has established a comprehensive raw material procurement and testing system. All raw materials come from well-known suppliers, with long-term cooperation agreements signed to ensure stable quality. A professional testing laboratory has been set up to test each batch of raw materials for indicators such as strength, mud content, and alkali resistance; substandard raw materials are strictly prohibited from entering the warehouse. Raw material proportions are optimized through orthogonal experiments, with formulas customized for different project requirements, such as adding salt-fog-resistant additives for coastal projects and optimizing frost-resistant formulas for northern projects. During production, the metering accuracy of raw materials is monitored in real time to ensure accurate proportions. The metering error of Qinglong's fully automated production line is ≤±1%, ensuring GRC product quality from the source.
