The essence of bionic textures lies in enabling GRC materials to reproduce the delicacy and vitality of nature. By replicating the textures of natural organisms and natural landscapes, bionic GRC shapes have become an important vehicle for the integration of architecture and nature. As a provincial-level Gazelle Enterprise, Qinglong Group has developed a mature set of techniques for realizing bionic GRC shape textures through the "Guancao" shape at the Dongguan Women and Children's Activity Center and the imitation-stone project at the Dongting Lake Museum, perfectly reproducing natural textures in architecture.
#Texture Capture and Restoration: Precisely Capturing Natural Details The foundation of realizing bionic textures is the precise collection of data from natural prototypes. The Qinglong team uses 3D laser scanning technology to capture 1:1 data of natural materials at a resolution of up to 0.1mm, fully capturing the raised and recessed details and the flow of the textures. In the Dongting Lake Museum project, natural stone textures were scanned, and data processing was used to restore the stone's texture and color, with the final GRC components achieving a simulation fidelity of over 95%, rivaling natural stone.
#Mold-Making Technology: The Core Vehicle for Texture Replication Molds are the key to transferring bionic textures, and Qinglong Group selects different mold processes based on texture complexity. For simple textures, silicone molds are used for direct casting; for complex textures such as Guancao weaving patterns, five-axis engraving machines are used to produce polyurethane molds, precisely replicating texture details. In the Dongguan Women and Children's Activity Center project, customized mold technology perfectly presented the woven texture of Guancao on the GRC curtain wall, achieving a fusion of design inspiration and natural texture.
#Material Surface Treatment: Enhancing Texture Quality and Durability The final presentation of bionic textures is inseparable from material surface treatment. After GRC components are formed, Qinglong Group applies processes such as hand polishing and sandblasting to optimize the tactile feel of the textures, while adding mineral pigments to blend colors that match the natural textures, ensuring uniform and lasting color. For outdoor projects, a transparent protective coating is applied to the surface to enhance the weather resistance of the textures and prevent fading and aging caused by ultraviolet exposure. In the Mingyue Lake European Style Town project in Nanning, the bionic textures have remained intact after years of use.
The texture realization of bionic GRC shapes is a perfect combination of technology and art. With precise data collection, advanced mold technology, and meticulous surface treatment, Qinglong Group has made GRC materials a vehicle for replicating nature. Backed by technical strength certified by multiple Science and Technology Progress Awards, Qinglong has created bionic GRC shapes that combine aesthetics and durability for numerous public buildings and landscape projects, and will continue to explore ways of integrating nature and architecture in the future.
