The Dongting Lake Museum is a landmark project initiated by the Yueyang Municipal Party Committee and Government in response to the national and provincial strategic plans for the construction of the Dongting Lake Ecological Economic Zone. Approved by the Provincial Development and Reform Commission and following instructions from the Provincial Party Committee and Government, the project aims to showcase the historical evolution of Dongting Lake, preserve and pass on the unique culture of the Dongting Lake area, protect the biodiversity of Dongting Lake, promote the research, management, and development of Dongting Lake, accelerate the construction of the Dongting Lake Ecological Economic Zone, and strive to make Yueyang a leading city in the region.
